Dragonborn
Born of dragons, as their name proclaims, the dragonborn walk proudly through a world that greets them with fearful incomprehension. Shaped by the dragons themselves, dragonborn originally hatched from dragon eggs as a unique race, combining the best attributes of dragons and humanoids. Most dragonborn are the legacy of their progenitor dragons who once followed their liege Bahamut westward, to the coasts of the Westward Jungles and eventually founding the proud nation of Hamura. But many have also spread elsewhere, and today they have become among the more common races found on Namtara.

History
The dragonborn are descended from the dragons, who themselves were the children of Bahamut, Dragon God of Creation and Destruction, and are native to the continent of Muria. When the Xerasians invaded Namtara from distant stars, the dragons who previously roosted along the eastern coasts fled from their ancestral peaks to the west to flee the scourge of Illithids and Daelkyr, though many too chose to stay and fight. During these tumultuous times, the union between dragon and mortal became common for the sake of survival. Bearing clutches of eggs, the dragons fled west and along the way the dragonborn were born. After settling, many more came to Bahamut's call to travel further west, into the continent of Meranthia where Bahamut would become its chief protector.
Much like the orcs, the dragonborn diverged between those who stayed and those who headed west with their progenitors. Those who followed west later came to form the kingdom of Hamura, which reveres Bahamut and the dragons. These are among the most numerous on Namtara, in greater numbers than even the Meranthian and the common dragonborn combined. Those who stayed either congregated within cities, forming lasting lineages, or went on their own path. Those who traveled further west to Meranthia diverged even further, becoming one of the more prestigious races of the continent.
