Kinley

Kinley

Restless as the wind and warm as a summers day, Kinley was born with a song on his lips, the wind in his hair, and wanterlust in his heart. Forever smiling, Kinley loves people, nature, and living life.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Kinley is lean, lithe, and a bit short for a half-elf. He has surprisingly solid muscles on his lean limbs.

Body Features

His most striking feature is likely his crown of forever wind-tousled curls, but then you see his eyes. Vivid green, flecked with eery square pupils. Then you notice his freckles, white against his his faintly rosy, sun-kissed cheeks. And finally there are his horns, small and brown, peeking from beneath his curls.

Apparel & Accessories

Kinley lives a minimal life and travels light, clad in well-worn but comfortable leathers and carrying a small pack. He wears a leather necklace and has several instruments on his person, but has surprisingly few possessions to his name, otherwise.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Kinley's origins are a riddle, a question which he, surprisingly, does not seem terribly interested in answering. He was left in a basket outside a door in the town of Alinalenora. Given his mixed blood, it was assumed that he was born of some sort of sorted affair.   Even as an infant, Kinley was odd. His cries often seemed eerily musical, and no one quiet knew what to make of his strange eyes or his white freckles. The child was prone to wandering the moment he could crawl, wandering away and getting himself into all sorts of danger and trouble. The child was constantly wandering into the woods, the wind seemed to be perpetually in his hair, and he seemed to have a knack for the random and the unexpected, so much so that the townsfolk only rolled their eyes when he started growing horns.   He did manage to surprise everyone when he returned from the woods with a polished, beautiful set of pan pipes and began speaking a language no one seemed to know. Apparently, the strange boy had found friendship with a group of satyrs. It seemed that Kinley not only carries satyr blood from somewhere deep in his lineage, but he also smells of the Fey Wild.   From his youngest days, Kinley formed a deep friendship with a farm girl named Rose, and while everyone in Alinalenora expected them to marry, Kinley's restless spirit won out. As soon as he was old enough, he collected his few meager possessions and struck out to see the world, leaving Rose with a broke heart. She was, unfortunately, not the last.   Kinley proved to have a notoriously short attention span and an unquenchable wanderlust, resulting in a string of broken hearts in his wake. The irony is that Kinley genuinely loves and adores people, finds them fascinating and delightful, and genuinely basks and delights in their company. When he finds a new, fascinating person, he showers them with attention and affection, smiles and adoring gazes falling on them like warm sunbeams. He looks back on every relationship fondly and honestly can't imagine why any of them would be upset with him for wandering away.
He wandered aimlessly until he met Blaise Olme, captain of the 6th Division of the Selanor Postknights. Blaise's endless energy, passion, and love for life captured and held Kinley's attention like few others. They shared a love of animals and of exploration, and Blaise gave Kinley a new purpose.   Kinley joined the Postknights on Blaise's urging, and even picked up a couple phrases in halfling--a real accomplishment, given his general intelligence level. Even this relationship was not meant to last, and Kinley soon found his attentions wandering as he explored the world and flirted his way through the ranks of the Postknights.   At long last, Kinley found himself assigned to work on the continent Honovi, a collaborated act of retaliation by several of his former flames who had pull within the Postknights. Unfortunately for them, this attempt is nothing short of incredibly misguided, as Kinley is utterly delighted to find himself on the shores of a new land waiting to be explored.

Education

Kinley suffered through some basic education, nothing he ever excelled at. At least not until he met his satyr friends.   Kinley is a bard of the Glamor college, trained in magic and music by satyrs of the woods around Alinalenora.

Employment

Kinley is a member of the Postknights. He likely has a rank, or a title, or something of that sort, but he's not entirely sure what it is... or why it's important.

Morality & Philosophy

Kinley is a true chaotic good. He values freedom and adores life, be that life found in the form of fascinating people, the beauty of nature, or the pleasures of good food, drink, and temporary luxury. He believes money is made to be spent, and has trouble understanding its value or saving it. He wants to leave people and places better than he found them, though he has difficulty understanding how his own actions can hurt others.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Kinley loves beauty and wants to experience every scrap of beauty the world has to offer. He 's restless, ever wandering, and wants to leave people and places better than he found them. He is, however, rather naive, unobservant, short-sighted, and often fails to understand how his own actions can hurt others.

Likes & Dislikes

Kinley loves animals, nature, and interesting people. Pretty faces, men, women, and everything in between are always delightful, but a fascinating story, a good heart, or a beautiful soul are worth far, far more. He lives for good music, food, stories, and company. Kinley cannot stand those who are selfish or cruel, and is seemingly unable to stay in one place very long.

Social

Religious Views

While Kinley has a loose understanding of gods and religion, he considers it to be something much bigger than, and far too organized, for the likes of him. He respects nature, admires its ability to heal itself, but somehow falls short of worshiping it.

Social Aptitude

Kinley is a relentless flirt, and is utterly oblivious to this fact. He's charming, disarming, and entirely forthright, but often misses or does not fully understand social cues.

A wandering, misunderstood romantic
