Atlan's (Race)

The Atlan race rely on a shrouding of mystery to hide their ignorance and xenophobia regarding surface dwellers and the only real reason an Atlan would leave their home to find the surface is through banishment, a sense of duty elsewhere or other nuanced reasons as an Atlan travelling the surface is an exceptionally rare sight.
They are an aquatic race and are quick to distrust and not understand the customs of the surface dwellers whilst viewing their plights with a detached unease... constantly trying to apply the surface problems to themselves due to a lack of empathy and a slight view of surface races as inherently different. 
Though, a friendship with an Atlan is a lifelong friendship and if you can prove to an Atlan that you are 'One of the good ones' then you have gained a passionate ally and staunch protector of you and, though difficult, no one sneers at an individual who has made a friend of an Atlan. 
RACIAL BENEFIT: As an Atlan you do not know common as standard and it must be added to as a known language rather than simply being assumed to be one however you instead known Aquan. However, you are so versed in marine and sea life that you have advantage with water vehicles and checks related to marine creatures lore and tracking.
