Sacred Pentarch

The Sacred Pentarch is the spiritual cornerstone of the kingdom. At its head stands the Hierophant, elected by senior clergy through a solemn vote. As part of the Royal Council, alongside the Headmistress of the Erudite Academy and the Lord Marshal of the Royal Guard, the Hierophant helps guide the kingdom’s path through spiritual insight and divine law.

The temple is governed by a central council in the capital and five regional sects, each devoted to one of the Five Gods: Igniz, Aqua, Fulgur, Terra, and Lignum. These sects uphold ritual, guide the faithful, and safeguard ancient teachings. Though each serves a distinct element, all remain bound by a shared doctrine of balance and order.

Despite its message of unity, the temple quietly harbors prejudice. While elves, humans, and halflings are welcomed into the fold, those of monstrous or unusual lineage often find themselves excluded. Their rise in the ranks is rare, and their presence in major ceremonies is limited.

The Sacred Pentarch maintains strong ties to the monarchy. Temple leaders are frequently consulted on matters of policy and tradition. Many royal advisors have come from its ranks, and its influence weaves through nearly every facet of courtly life.

It is often at odds with groups like the Vorik'Hel or the chaotic The Gae Jackalope Faire , but the Sacred Pentarch remains the kingdom’s moral compass. It is traditional, deeply rooted, and ever-present.

The Hierophant

The Hierophant is the highest spiritual voice in Najarune, elected by senior clerics and elemental representatives. As the vessel of the elemental gods, they provide divine counsel within the Royal Council.

But the role is crushing. The demands, both spiritual and political, are unrelenting. Most who take the mantle do not hold it for long. Some fade into obscurity, others quietly disappear. The title remains sacred, but it wears down nearly all who bear it.
