The Weave

The Weave is an arcane field that, like the Nahgia Lifeforce, flows through all things. Unlike the Nahgia Lifeforce though, it affects magic of an arcane nature rather than natural phenomena. Many are able to access this magical tapestry to some degree, and influence it to cause differing effects. These effects are classified into a variety of classes, grouped by what they do. Some, like the school of evocation, create elemental effects like ice and fire. Others, like divination, provide insight into the past of the future, giving information that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Manifestation

The Weave is a field of arcane energy that is sustained by the magical ore churning in the core of the planet, alongside the iron that generate an electromagnetic field to protect the planet from solar winds. It's often compared to a large net or tapestry that wraps around the planet and through living things. It's also strongly ties to the Nahgia Lifeforce, which similarly flows through all things but affects the natural world rather than the arcane.

Casters

The weave allows arcane magic to be cast in various ways, depending on their level of affinity and their sensitivity with the weave. Some, like sorcerers, are naturally very sensitive to the weave, and are sometimes compared to a knot in the tapestry. It's a concentration of magical energy, explaining the sometimes unpredictable and volatile nature of their magic. Some, like bards, are able to harmonise with the weave with their very performances, vibrating parts of the weave to cause the effects they desire. They tend to have a similar affinity with the weave that sorcerers have, but are less entangled in it and are thus able to have a better degree of control over their magical abilities. Some, like wizards, are able to study the weave, picking at specific threads to create the desired effect from it. It's far more deliberate and careful than the slap-dash improvisation that sorcerers often rely on. They also don't tend to be as heavily tied to the weave as bards and sorcerers, which allows them to study it more carefully from a distance with less danger. It also means they have to work harder to be able to use the weave, which makes the study all the more essencial.   Those with very little to no affinity with magic have one last option to be able to gain access to the potential power the weave allows, but at a great cost. Some beings are so tied to the weave, they are almost vessles for the weave itself, countering the issue that sorcerers face with possessing such concentrations of magic. These being can decide to lend their power and their connection to the weave, acting as a middleman between the Weave and those wishing to become magical. In exchange for eternal servitute, often in the form of your soul or similar, a person can agree to become a warlock to these beings to gain access to the Weave.

Non-arcane casters

There are some spell-casters that tangentially access the Weave, where the Weave is moved and affected by their actions, but the caster doesn't directly interact with the weave like the above mentioned, and so are not included as arcane casters. This includes clerics and paladins who recive their powers from divine sources, and casters who channel their magic through the Nahgia Lifeforce like druids and rangers.

Concentrations of the Weave

The weave is sustained by the magical field emmited from the earths core, as well as the Nahgia Lifeforce. However, it can be found in a concentrated form as Magis Ore. Magis Ore is especially susceptable to the influence of the weave, making it a potent conduit when spellcasters channel the weave through it like an amplifier. It emits magical power stored within it passively, in the same was that some minerals have the ability to be fluorescent. When added to runes or potions, it bolsters the power of those magical items due to it's magical potential.   Sorcerers are also forms of concentrated weave, sometimes described as knots within the weave. The reasons why are often unknown, with some rather inoccuous reasons being cited as the cause, such as being born at a particular time on a particular day at a specific location, or doing a specific action like eating a cheese sandwhich 5 miles away from a geological event as the moons happened to line up, and so on.

Absenses of the Weave

On the other hand, an increasingly common situation is pockets of dead magic and the increasing unpredictability of the Weave. This is connected to the fading Nahgia Lifeforce caused by the planet dying. The weave has started to unravel and fray, making even the most controlled forms of magic likely to mishap. For sorcerers, this instability is especially troubling, as they already experienced a level of that before. Wizards are now being affected by this fraying weave, despite their careful studies. Sometimes spells just fizzle upon casting, but other times it results in more precarious results like transforming into a potted plant.   In some locations, the weave is so frayed that it's no longer able to be used effectively. These areas are called dead-zones, as the magic within these areas is said to be dead. These areas often corrispond to areas where the Nahgia Lifeforce is equally weak or absent. Thankfully, there are not many areas that are classified as dead-zones, but the size and number are gradually increasing with time as the Nahgia Lifeforce fades and dies.   Magis Ore is now becoming more useful as a casting tool, as it manages to maintain the weave close to it because of its' own power to emit magical fields. When crushed up to use in potions and runes though, it loses this property.
