Náströnd Sagas

When the old gods went, with them went the world they had created.

Gone were the memories of cities that extended up to the horizon. Gone were the memories of people who lived in a perfect harmony. And gone were the memories of the radiant heroes, who helped to shape that world.

Nowadays, almost nobody can even remember the name of this world that has once existed. The times of indulging in the pleasant memories of the past are long gone. Thinking about ones survival is the only thing left to do for most.

Some try to bring order back into this world. Kings, priests, scholars, they all try to learn from the mistakes of the past, however little they remember.

All of them make the mistake of thinking that they can overcome the underlying law of every universe. Entropy, the slow by inevitable return disorder and chaos, affects everything. Kings become corrupt, priests start to preach their own truths, scholars succumb to the temptation of using their knowledge to empower themselves.

But then there are those who find their calling in seeking out and embracing this slow decay that eats away at their world. Explorers who delve into long forgotten ruins just to discover what has been lost a long time ago. Warriors who fight the creatures that have risen from the darkness poisoning this world just to prove their worth. And of course the ones who have realised the absolute truth and are trying to do their part to see the end for themselves.

Those are the ones whose stories are worth telling. Stories about the lives they have lead and how, in the end, all of them ended up in total darkness.

These are the Náströnd Sagas.

When the skies collapsed above our heads, we thought this was the end. When we looked across our lands and saw nothing but fire and ash, we thought this was the end.

But what we did not know at that point is, that this was only the beginning.
