The Third Illagran Civil War

Revolution

1964 ISC

A relatively new political opposition in the Illagran Consell would grow tired of High King Maximo Neira, who has been in power since the mid 19th century, and openly protested against his regime. Particularly the lack of land reform, and the growing pains of adopting industry practices would cause the destabilizing of the region. In 1964 a majority of the Consell dos Comúns would sit out of sessions, causing chaos in the Upper Consell and paralysis in the Kingdom's government. Instead of addressing the disgruntlement of the Consell members to solve the crisis, King Neira would dismiss members who would not accept the ultimatum to come back or be replaced. To the surprise of no one this would not go over well with many of those disgruntled Consell members, and they would confide in the communities that they represented. Tensions would reach a breaking point when a revolt led by Anarchist leader Cledwyn Camba in Novollyn, and other settlements along the Croesi River would follow suit and form the Illagran Comunidad. Liberal Democratic leaders, in particular Terero Avina, would denounce the current government and settlements on the south side of Sierra Hao, including Vadoio and Outeidade, would follow suit.

The issues that these factions would cite is the lack of appreciation of Cicloist morals from the Kingdom, the lack of respect and false amount of authority to the members of Consell dos Comúns, and a need for democratic elections for the Upper Consell. The crisis would demand the call for another conference in Apaz from the international community to secure a peaceful resolution, the largest number of delegates would come from the Navaleian Republic to make sure that their biggest trade partner won’t tear itself apart. On the 19th of Crenza 1964 before the conference officially began its talks, members of the Arenian Empires Ministry of Peace would arrest the delegates of the Illaguan Comunidad and the Republican factions. The following talks would be a disaster, with the Second Republic’s delegates allegedly shouting denunciations to the Tiran and even the allies of the Arenian Empire would be puzzled by such a move. In short the Apaz Conference of 1964 would achieve nothing but draw the battle lines for a devastating conflict. The Kingdom would begin an offensive with the support of the Arenian Empire to regain control of its territory, with support for the rebel factions coming from the Navaleian Republic and its allies.
