The Arediān Revolution/Second Republic

Revolution

1717-1718 ISC

The people’s attitude in the Arediān towards the Tiran aligned First Republic government would sour greatly due to corruption, Tiranic intervention in elections, and voting rights only being given to property owners. The powder keg of tensions would be set off by the South Aredián Trade Company blockading Isola Waena and ‘Opu due to competition from the island's locals serving as an actual threat to profits, and despite the crisis being brought to the attention of the First Republic’s Senate and Primer Punua Santiago no action was taken by the government even with ports bombarded and people killed. This flew in the face of an ancient cultural attitude that persisted in different forms as time passed, and still persists to this day, that if one member of a family or an island is attacked, then it's an attack against all of them. Isloa Waena being a central Island for travel and trade there were a lot of family ties from people in the rest of the Sea, and political unity with anti-tiran and liberal sentiments creating the perfect storm.

On the 17th of Guerana in 1717 the entire Sea was in open rebellion, with Liberal leaders like Oreo Kaiwhakato leading the charge. The revolution would send shock waves throughout the realm, as it would be the first open conflict in Terota for more than a millenia. The Arenian Empire would have the Charstani Navy deployed in order to preserve the Tiranic World Order and help the First Republic government. The Belligerents were the First Navaleian Republic, the Arenian Empire, the State of Aya and the United Kingdom of Charstania against the Second Republic. Although seemingly outnumbered, the Arenian Empire wouldn’t find many avenues for attack especially after a long era of peace, and the neutrality of the Kingdom of Illagua was a large factor in this as the High King even refused military access so as to maintain the millenia long peace. With no land war for the Tiran to fight in, it was all up to the Royal Navy of the UKC to stop the Revolution. However, the Royal Navy’s efficacy would also be severely limited as the Turran Fleets would refuse deployment because they were as connected to the Sea as they were to the Coast, and avoided disciplinary action by claiming unpreparedness.
In total the Tiran would only sail with two flotillas to fight the Second Republic at The Battle of Uru where they suffered low morale and no sleep from sailing through an ill timed Typhoon, with some ships even getting lost in the storm. When the Second Republic defenders met the attacking force, the result of the fierce fighting was a decisive victory for the defenders. The Second Republic would replace the first and establish a new constitutional government in the same year as the fighting would only last a month, Oreo Kaiwhakato would be elected as the new Primer and move the capital to Uru. The Tiran government, led by Primer Luna Salazar Badinsca would also concede the fight so as to not prolong a bloody war and sign a treaty to begin normalizing relations once again, dismantling the South Aredián Trade Company into smaller independently owned companies, and a Brume defense agreement with the Second Republic. All these things would be agreed upon and more in the Treaty of Apaz 1718.
