The Emerald Moon

For millennia, the Beastfolk owe their existence to the truly random celestial event known as the Emerald Moon. Characterised by its extremely magnified size and vibrant green hue, the aptly named 'Emerald Moon' is one of the most mysterious events in Mythrian Cosmology. It is widely accepted that, among other celestial articles, that the Moon is a source of magic in the world; radiating from it, soaking the world in magical energy. Under yet undetermined conditions, the Moon may appear in this enhanced green form, in which its magical radiance is significantly amplified, so much so that certain areas of the world become over-saturated with magic, resulting in the creation of Wisps. In addition to this overabundance of magical energy, certain animal species may also become over saturated, absorbing the magic into themselves vicariously within these areas. This results in them elevating to sapience, becoming a fully intelligent and self-aware race.
