Preservewrit

Adam walked up to the house and set his hand on the wall.  He balanced a scroll on his other arm and held a quill between his teeth.  He set the scroll down on a slab of wood he had placed next to the wall and removed the quill from his teeth.  It was pre-inked and he scratched the final word onto the parchment.  The parchment seemed to snag slightly and a cool gust of wind blew past him and shimmered over the boards of the house.  Adam aimed a soft kick at them and felt the tell-tale buzz of a completed Preservewrit.  Just to make sure, he picked up a bucket of water standing near and threw it at the wall.  The water appeared to hit the wall but instantly flowed off it, falling on the ground in a great sheet.  The boards were dry to the touch.  Satisfied, Adam turned and walked off.

Manufacturing

In order to manufacture a preservewrit, a copy of the text must be created that is missing at least one word.  More powerful preservewrits typically have more words missing, like more powerful spellwrits in general.

Skadari
Access & Availability
Preservewrits are in wide usage throughout Mythia, being distributed by both the Guild of Spellwriters and private presses and entities.  They are accessible to most people, with prices ranging for most common preservewrits between 10 and 20 gold.
Complexity
Preservewrits, like all spellwrits, require only a single word to be written to finish them and cause their effects to manifest.  This means that they are accessible for nearly all people in Mythia, due to the very high literacy rate.  In order to complete a spellwrit, a flat surface is required to write on, as well as either a quill or a pen and some ink.  Typically the surface is tested afterwards with whatever the writ is intended to preserve against to ensure that the treatment has worked.
Discovery
The first preservewrit was Skadari's Azara Szchindi, which told of the impermeability of nature and how even after the end of human existence, nature would persist. Upon his completion of it, the desk he was touching had a gust of wind blow over it and in shock he knocked his ink bottle. The ink fell on the desk and slid off onto the floor, leaving the desk untouched. As Skadari experimented, he found that the manuscript rendered anything that he touched while completing it impervious to staining and liquid damage. Literary critics seized upon the discovery and copies were distributed around Mythia, while others began to analyse what may have caused the effect and after a time new spellwrits that created similar effects were created.   Spellwrits are now used widely throughout Mythia to prevent against common disasters such as flood, fire, and stains.

I love this! My Magical Archives especially would love to use this on their collections. Beautiful job explaining how it works, too.
