C2 Session 5, Thwarting a Ritual
General Summary
the party had a scuffle against an occult ritual of some kind where a ring of people gathered around a bloody centerpiece and unconscious body lying faceup in the pool. the many figures were shrouded in darkness chanting to an abyssal tune. Battle broke out between our party quickly struck at the group intending to stop whatever foul play was at hand in this room while the light was snuffed out and shadows began forming into a mist.
Their leader raised their dagger about to plunge it directly into the body in the pool of blood, when Spider-Volt fired a line of web at it and tugged it to himself. The Lead cultist unclipped their flail and beat Spider-Volt into the wall then reclaimed the dagger
while Cal destroyed jaws, Cresie threw her trident and impaled one. Coolio formed a blade from the shadowy mist and lept forward to strike a cultist down, as DOOR charged in to bring Spider-Volt back up. When just three remained, one continuing the chant, Spider-Volt swung into action, punching a cultist upward before weblining up to them and electrically punching them directly square in the nose, causing the lightning to spread through their body and destroy every cell in a chain reaction while Spider-Volt used the momentum to strike down at the leader of the cultist, plunging his fist straight through their face then shaking off the excess viscera. Spider-Volt stood there, sleeves burned away, tears in his chest from blades and spikes, triumphant with his eyes narrowed looking back at the party.
after recovering from the shock of Spider-Volts badassery, Coolio struck down the last cultist whom was falteringly chanting still using his shadowblade while Cal and Cresie removed the sacrifice from the hardening blood and attached tendrils.
After the fight, the party washed off in the ocean and went directly to an inn to sleep,whereupon they met Niles whom come morning they explained the events to.
That morning, the party went back and collected two bodies to take to a pathologist to hire her to perform autopsies on them
after dropping off the bodies the party decided they had one more thing to be done this day. Cresie went into The Shop 'N Hop to get the dagger from the lead cultist identified, while also putting the Archivist's Key out on the counter as Spider-Volt swiftly shot webs to grab it. The explosion was triggered as the key was pulled through the door, destroying the webbing, but the momentum still carried it toward for spider-volt who ran as fast as he could away.
Upon hearing the explosion Brylria ran back into the shops main room to see what had happened, and Cresie did a poor job lying, but not poor enough to give the plan away as Door came in disguised and fooled Brylria into sending the shops golem in the opposite direction
We open now on the 17th of Rumbleth 1017, you've all met up in a distant alleyway two hours later, you all stand there as Spider-Volt runs up to you with the key in hand.
