C2 Session 13, Spider Heroics Report
General Summary
Last we left off, Mytharia’s one and only Spider-Volt woke up from a nap and noticed a flaming chunk of metal and collapsing building next to him and lept into action to save people. It was strenuous and he was already tired from his fight with Niles less than a day earlier, but people needed to be saved. It wasn't up to him to decide whether to save them, because it needed to be done. The first person he encountered was Raziel, but Raziel resisted his help to look for his cards, so Spider-Volt looked for others to help. once he'd gathered some together, another chunk of metal came flying down directly for Raziel. Spider-Volt tried to help but missed his webline and the chunk struck causing more blood to flow through an illusory source. Thinking him dead, Spider-Volt focused on helping others he still could.
As the rest of the outsiders finished their mad sprint a kilometre away, Cal was suddenly flying into the air by the dead stop but managed to save herself from hitting a wall. The party then realised they'd left Spider-Volt behind to die, so Coolio hasted Cal again and they ran back once more, to find Spider-Volt heroicly helping those who survived, and those who'd rushed over in the commotion and were caught now by the falling rubble, fire, and splinter pieces of meteor still striking.
Seeing Spider-Volt, the outsiders were invigorated to help as well. Coolio used the blade of grass to lift people out of the wreckage, while Cal, Cresie, and DOOR each slid down into the crater to help in other ways. Cal was blinded by the smoke but managed to find Raziel, still barely alive, and put him in Polnareff’s Palace. DOOR helping make sure people stayed with Spider-Volt and took the rope up to Coolio. Cresie searched for more survivers and attempted to save them, squeezing around some rubble to try and get them to safety, but when a slide occurred she let go of their hands and dove out of the way leaving them to be crushed as she made her way back to the group.
The situation culminated in the last fully standing wall falling down on everyone. Everyone braced for impact assuming this would be the end, but Spider-Volt fired out webs to cushion the impact then yelled and braced himself to hold it all. As everyone crouched in awe, Spider-Volt took the weight of the sky upon himself to be their saviour. He fult the cutting force of rock bearing down upon his back, but he held strong bracing it like a pillar while Coolio got everyone left that they could get out, out of the Crater with Spider-Volt following shortly after.
As the people asked who it was who saved them, Spider-Volt gave them a rousing speech about who he is. The guard, arriving at last gave the outsiders a hard time, but eventually gave up and walked away.
The outsiders convened with Raziel and questioned him on who exactly he was, in response he claimed to be a servant of The Game Master, god of games, chance, and gambling. Cal inquired about the game he offered and the possibility it could cure her ailment. Raziel replied saying he believed it could but it would be up to chance whether it would or not, and you would have to win the game. Cal considered this offer, but declined in the end. Now 4am, the party ran to their employers and woke them up in this early section of the morning, saying they wanted to go. Skargithra, the caravan’s leader was annoyed by this timing but begrudgingly accepted and said they would be ready by 6. The party waited and when the time came Skargithra made an offhand comment about some people looking for Spider-Volt, causing him to immediately leave to look for those people without asking any follow-up questions. He happened upon a tavern called Gorin’s Goidian Grill and spoke with the owner of the place for a bit, inquiring about anyone asking for him, and whether they sell Sprite. She had to check the back, but she did find some Sprite and offered it at a largely discounted price, but Spider-Volt was too poor for that and left. He left and came back 3 more times, eventually collecting the other outsiders to come with him. on his final visit he was accused of being racist the barkeep citing that it happens often. DOOR stepped in as well and the two ended up ordering chicken strips at jacked prices, and DOOR specifically tipped with his meal. Cal left to follow some people with a mask and finally the people looking for Spider-Volt arrived. the child he saved in the early morning and their mother. The mother, Valmas, explained that her daughter Calsin had wanted her to make a gift for Spider-Volt to thank him. So they stayed up all night making a new suit for him and presented it to him now. DOOR and Coolio chimed in saying they'll make sure he showers before he puts it on and they all thanked the two for it.
Cal returned and then they all made their way to their employers to head onward.
The next night after they rested, DOOR decided to cast speak with animals and talk with Garfield the caterpillar. As he spoke with Garfield he found the caterpillar’s name wasn't really Garfield, but Elafrogos, with DOOR opting to call him Gus for short. DOOR and Gus discussed many things during the duration of the spell and just as it ended Gus broke from the bottle and leaped at DOOR beginning to crawl up his body. Coolio and Cal kept into action to try and find the stealthy stealthy caterpillar but neither could find him until he came to DOOR’s ear and was about to enter when DOOR grasped his tiny body and prepared an inflict wounds, but let it go and stuffed him back in the jar like a tiny Hitler, which Coolio then filled with grease. Cresie cast Zone of Truth on them all and the real questioning began. Gus said that he could grant great power to one who would attune to him, psionic powers over the domain of mind which would allow him to read and control, in return he just asks that DOOR seek a lock, one he says would let him leave this planet, and him doing so would not significantly harm the planet, saying you'll all be fine. As the zone of truth ended, DOOR told Gus he would consider it and slipped the caterpillar back in his pocket
