Vaosi

Denizens of the Ancient Empire of Vao. These crystalline creatures were said to be the first race to rise to power and conquer Mythanos around 8 thousand years ago. Very little is known about the people themselves as their texts are illegible to all manner of wit and magic, and there are no traces of the 'gods' either dead or alive to tell their tale. Historic evidence and studies suggest that around 3 thousand years ago, the Vaosi simply vanished, leaving behind art, artifact, architecture and perhaps most vitally, slaves. The Magocrasy that dominates the lands of Modern Vao, today was established by the enslaved peoples left behind in their wake, who after a brief period of civil war, began to organize, educate, and eventually govern themselves. In the modern age, VaoNayā, (or New Vao, despite being 2500 years old) is the predominant military and arcane force in the known world.
