Session 91 - Sweeping up Serraine

4 Flaurmont 1011 - 7 Flaurmont 1011

General Summary

When the forcecage drops, the party has Tarras, aka Larry, surrounded menacingly. He does not put up a fight, and they begin asking questions. Unfortunately, while he realizes some of the things his boss were doing might be illegal, he doesn't seem to have much information about either the kidnapping, or the scheme to take over Serraine. The party decides to bind him up so he can't escape, and take him with them as they finish exploring the last of the basement area.   In the room beyond where the combat took place is a room set up like a boardroom, with fancy chairs around a large, very nice table. There isn't any evidence of wrongdoing in the meeting room, nor are there fancy nameplates for the different seats around the table. While searching the room, however, Tork discovers a secret door in the wall, which opens to a study. In this study, they find Eldon Folkor, working at some kind of 3D puzzle, clearly preoccupied. He seems to have forgotten that he has been kidnapped but, when prompted, he recalls being pulled away from the STINGRAY by the skeletons, but explains that the nice Nagpa has been feeding him and gave him this fascinating puzzle to work on. Leo explains that the password had not worked, and the "recycling" Golems will need to be repaired. Eldon says the password was STINGRAY, the whole phase, "Seaborn Tactical Intercontinental Nautical Grade Rudderless Aquatic Yacht". Leo is flabbergasted, but accepting of this answer. Regardless, the Golems will need to be repaired.   As Eldon continues to work at the puzzle, the party investigates the room. This time they seem to have hit paydirt, as there is a book with all the evidence they should need to unwind the sinister plot to take control of Serraine. It names the key cabal members, there is a reference to the pressure applied to Horrobin to provide the cabal a power source, to no avail. They also find another room containing treasure, which they feel appropriately belongs in the Bag of Colding. As usual, they set off a trap in the opening process, but the injury is minor, and Leo presses on.   Now that they have gathered the evidence, the party has to decide how to proceed. After much back and forth about this, they end up bringing Tarras and the evidence to Horrobin's home and have him call in the watch. It is pretty late, so it takes a little while for the process to work its way up to senior leadership, but the official city response is reasonably quick. The next morning there are major arrests across the city - the party leans that one Nagpa wizard does seem to the flying city.   The party requests that the Lamp of the Shroud, that they got from the body of the Nagpa Heydrech and is a dangerous undead summoning device, be destroyed in the city's power generator, as this seems like the safest disposal. The city officials agree to do this, but since Seraphina wants to witness the destruction of the artifact, which of course she despises, the party will have to stay a couple days due to the damage done to the recycling Golems.   The book also provides the city warning about the buildup of pockets of undead and other creatures in the undercity that were going to be part of the takeover process. The watch is slowly working through the different tunnels, passages, and rooms taking care of the threats they encounter. They are spread thin though, and enlist the party to help clear out a section of tunnels. They give very explicit instructions to follow the exact course on the map, and deal with any creatures they find lurking. Under no circumstances should they turn valves, or mess with the complex piping throughout the tunnels.   The party is feeling pretty cooperative and sticks to the route laid out by the watch. They have several encounters that don't overly threaten their safety. They do not turn any valves, and they do not stray into different sections of the tunnels. They encounter more undead, including Wights, Ghosts, and Skeletons that are much more menacing than the legal servant-for-hire Skeletons, similar to the knights they encountered in the basement, but nothing they can't overcome working in coordination.   Having helped clear out the threats in the tunnels, the party returns and reports back to the watch. They do a little more shopping in town, and Leo is able to spend some more time helping Eldon with the STINGRAY. Eventually they have burned enough time to witness the destruction of the artifact. The city gives them a complimentary flight back to Mirros, as well as passes for flights to/from Serraine for the next year, which they gracefully accept, even though they don't really need it.
