Speaker Mahina Galax (a.k.a. "Ina" by Klaus, "Moonshine" by Elian)
Physical Description
Mahina is slim and with long arms, she has a slick figure and a light pace. Her physic isn't really athletic and she doesn't have many marked muscles, her movements are swift and sometimes even startling. She is better at speed that at endurance or strength and she is considered to be quite agile and elusive. Dodging more than attacking when fights take place, her physic is in good state mostly because of the rides and games she plays with Klia.
At first glance there is nothing in Mahina that is seen as attractive or different from others, she is not considered particularly pretty nor ugly. Her face is well proportioned, with the marks under her eyes probably being the most notable thing in her. This marks where given to her in her bonding ceremony with Klia, and Enaiid would joke with her telling that she needed to sleep more since in some angles they seemed like she had baggy eyes.
She has olive colored skin, which is typical for Shifting Tamers but she has lightly darker freckles all around her body, and her hair is a coopery reddish-brown color with curled hair tips that might get really tangled if she isn't careful.
Her figure is also pretty average but there is something when she moves that makes it feel like she is comfortable with her body which makes her appealing. This, and her usually calm and gentle expression makes her someone agreeable to be around.
As mentioned before her face is well proportioned and she has big purple eyes with peculiar markings under them, if she doesn't brush her hair daily it is probable that she will have some big knots on it. She has freckles all over her face but they concentrate on her cheeks and nose.
Her jaw has a soft end and she has a rather round face, her ears are pointy and she has a slightly concaved and small nose. Her cheekbones are barely visible, however after the Rifting Skirmish she is looking more tired and slightly haggard, some people also say that the look in her eyes changed.
Her most unusual trait were probably the marking under her eyes, since those were her Bonding Marks that she shared with Klia. Still outside of that it would be than whenever she is nervous or anxious she starts muttering under her breath the names of the main constellations.
Mahina doesn't really moves in a particular way, mainly adapting to how those around her do. Her more distinctive trait here is that sometimes, even without realizing, she makes a move that comes off as extremely quick, sometimes startling others or even unsettling them. Thanks to this she tries to control it, but if she is with someone she already knows or trusts this will happen really often.
Mahina is a talented Tamer that knows most of the Shifting Magic spells and has a good knowledge of the other magical divisions too. Some of her favorite magic to perform were illusions and telepathy but she hasn't had much time for them in the last years. She doesn't like battle spells and tries to avoid using them, but if she is left with no other option she is a fearsome enemy, sometimes being to quick to even let her opponent react before her next blow.
She is also an exceptional rider, thanks to all the time she spends with Klia and the races they do when they find a place to run, this is one of their favorite activities.
Mahina tends to wear long dresses, to hide her boots, and several leather bags where she carries maps and anything she considers important. She always wears Selene's necklace and usually has her hair on a ponytail when studying, if not she will let her hair down.
Her clothes are usually violet and soft purple but she also tends to wear dark blue or green things, she always uses boots, since she finds them more comfortable. She never uses makeup or other jewels and she wear small, silver glasses when she is reading.
Mahina carries various items in her leather bags, mostly maps, but she also keeps some basic healing material, some glasses to take samples and a bit dry food. Sometimes she carries sugar cubes for Klia.
She carries her necklace and a compass to wherever she goes, since the first one helps her canalize her magic and the second was a gift of someone she cared greatly about.
Mental characteristics
Mahina is a cisgender female that goes by the pronouns she/her.
Mahina is a straight woman who is comfortable with her gender and preferences, however she tends to have a bit of shame when expressing her attraction to others, specially if she thinks it is something selfish or not plausible.
She was assigned to the mayor boarding school of Mirage City, which specializes in Shifting Magic. She was a responsible and talented student who worked hard and barely had any faults.
She never failed a test but she wasn't completely into it until her family crisis. While trying to distract her attention she focused on school, following the advise of the Shifting Stone Keeper and thinking of school as a way out of her actual situation, thing that finally did end up happening.
Soon after she finished school, in the position of the fourth most promising Tamer she got picked by a high rank mentor who helped her become a powerful wizard.
Mahina was first employed by the
Shifting Stone Keeper, who was a family friend, as a mentor as soon as she finished her own training. She spent around six years in the job, and when she was 27 the opportunity for Speaker of Selene was suddenly available. When this happened the Shifting Stone Keeper insisted on her postulating and she agreed, once she had the requirements she started the trial process where she met
Klaus Fisher, the Speaker of Stuhi nominee, and Enaiid Sotet. And after successfully fulfilling it she became the current Speaker of Selene, position she has kept for 20 years.
- Mahina was the fourth more promising student of her boarding school on Mirage City (name to be added).
- Once she graduated she was quickly selected by a good mentor, with who she developed her abilities greatly.
- After that she became a mentor and trained two students of known families.
- Soon after that she applied for Speaker of Selene she worked with the Shifting Stone Keeper, The Shifting General and The Shifting Selector, obtaining the approval of them all.
- She went through the trials, passing each one successfully.
- When her final quest came and she had to climb to Moon Mountain she was capable of doing so.
- She became the Speaker of Selene, keeping the rank to the day.
- She broke an alliance of centuries with the Speaker of Sielu by standing on the Openers's side.
- Mahina is greatly embarrassed of her non-recognized half-brother on her father's side, which cause a great trouble on her family.
- She is scared of wolves thanks to her familiar being a caribou, but she won't admit it. (Specially of Klaus's familiar)
- Though the popular opinion is divided, Mahina constantly wonders if she made a mistake by choosing the Openers' side and breaking an old alliance.
- She has always being embarrassed of being in love with Klaus, thinking that her inability of letting that go is a huge failure.
Mahina didn't have a trauma per se before the Rifting Skirmish happened. The closest thing to it being that her relationships with her family were strained after the existence of her half-brother was discovered. After that she became Speaker of Selene and she felt free for a long time, until the arguments happened and she had to take a stand.
Her real trauma happened after she made her decision, since the Shifting Stone Keeper was found dead, probably murdered by Enaiid himself. This resulted in Mahina questioning all of her decisions, and overthinking everything in order to prevent something like that to happen ever again. She also lost her confidence and has problems using her full magic potential, the Lead Speaker
(Klaus Fisher) had to name another Shifting Stone Keeper. Shortly after that she dissapeared and hasn´t been seen, some Tamers think she is already dead.
Mahina is a responsible person with good memory who likes to read almost anything she can find, having a special liking for maps and geographical books. She is also good at interpreting information and finding some other, even if the people don't notice it, she isn't as cunning as
Klaus but she is better at reading people, having a more developed sensitivity to others.
She is also someone who is usually very calm and cold-headed thinking about the consequences before making a decision, but if something doesn't go as planned she has a bad time improvising or adapting, sometimes she might freeze in fear. She is organized with the important parts but can get a bit carried away and focus on some areas while leaving others unattended. When she was young she usually had her mind in many places at once, mixing some topics and going faster than people around her, confusing them.
Mahina has a strong moral compass and she doesn't doubt before doing something according to the values she was taught specially by Arima, the Shifting Stone Keeper. She doesn't tend to yield for her wishes or desires if she doesn't consider them to be right or if they affect someone else. She is a firm believer of "you get what you give" and she thinks that violence doesn't solve anything, being a pacifist.
She considers honesty and loyalty fundamental and doesn't understand how someone is willing to do something while knowing it is wrong. This is partly due to her not knowing how to cope with guilt and not having much ambition that isn't directed into helping others or making the world better. She has a huge heart and is extremely merciful, she won't deny a second chance and is willing to forgive if you haven't betrayed her trust, if she refuses however, it is probably she won't change her mind.
Mahina has a strong taboo to yield to her desires or wishes, no matter how strong they are and how little they affect others, making her an extremely selfless being. This probably comes from how her father's mistake affected all her family in many levels, even getting to ruin a life.
Thanks to this she is also really conscious and hasn't told Klaus anything about her feelings even though it is pretty clear that they are reciprocated. Thinking that if she does she might not be able to control herself anymore. This became even worse after the Rifting Skirmish since she thinks that she choose her side being biased by Klaus and that this caused the death of Arima.
Personality Characteristics
Mahina is devoted to the idea of helping others and Myridiam, no matter what it takes her to do so. However this motivation wasn't always there, it probably develops after Arima takes the role of her father figure.
Before that her biggest motivation was to leave from her family home, trying to put as much distance as possible and to forget even their mere existence.
Since the Rifting Skirmish she has lost her way and motivation, thinking she has failed and that there is nothing she can do about it. Some Tamers think that it is because of this that she dissapeared.

Mahina knows a lot about geography and astronomy, she is also outstanding at illusions and telepathy, knowing how to conjure whatever she wants. She has a good amount of knowledge in history and almost any school subject, she also has a strong bond with her familiar. The legends are another topic that fascinates her, knowing almost everyone that revolves around Selene and Stuhi specially.

She isn't good at seeing other's double intentions and she isn't really a polemic person, not enjoying the politics that much even if she has to work around the subject everyday. She is known for being a bit naive and not really ambitious, having problems with stablishing limits to others and even do something that isn't for the sake of everyone else. When she was little she used to bite her nails constantly, sometimes even bleeding. She had overcame this when she became a mentor but since the Rifting Skirmish she is doing it again, getting some cuts on her fingers.
Mahina takes care about her hygiene, always trying to be a good example due to her job. She uses perfume of different flowers that come from far away places, dreaming that she really is there.

Social
Mahina's family had a lot of connections with people inside of Mirage City, some being old family friends while others were just satisfied business partners. The most important figure here would be Arima, who was the Shifting Tamer with the highest tittle outside of the current Speaker of Selene at the time. This opened a lot of doors for her family and their affairs, extending their company outside of Mirage City.
After Mahina became the Speaker of Selene her family business immediately hit a growth spurt, even if she tried to avoid associating with them or mentioning anything that had to do with it.
Mahina tried to cut most of her family ties as soon as she left her home, specially with her father, Elian. She also tried to avoid her mother even if they both insisted on seeing her more than once.
The last time they saw each other was in a family reunion three years after she was named Speaker of Selene, thanks to Klaus insisting on going with her. This was a surprise to everyone but the reunion didn't go as planned and the family fought again, with Mahina leaving even before it ended. After that her family tried to send apology letters but she didn't read them, and she refused to see them ever again.
After the Rifting Skirmish she feels like a failure and is too embarrassed to even try writing to her parents, feeling even more loneliness and guilt.
Mahina believes strongly in the Fallen Witches since she was a kid and always liked to hear stories about them. When she became the Speaker of Selene she was very proud, because it is said that those who climb Moon Mountain safely are blessed by Selene. In consequence she wanted to do her best at the job, but when she chose sides she felt as if she betrayed Selene and Sielu, being nothing more than a traitor and not deserving the trust Selene gave her.
Mahina is considered to have a good etiquette and being polite and classy at social encounters. However she isn't as extroverted as her friends, usually being the one who comments the less and talks from little to nothing about herself. Still she is considered one of the kindest hostesses in most of the balls, displaying a willingness to listen and a calm attitude, open to new points of views or different opinions.
Mahina takes a formal yet polite approach when she is meeting someone she hasn't yet or that she will see in few situations. However if it is someone she is meant to work with or see more often then she will try to break the ice with a more cheerful attitude while still keeping her distance.
If she is with someone she already knows or has a close bond with then she will be a bit more quiet and thoughtful since she likes silent company and she feels like she doesn't have to fill empty space to make people comfortable. She also touches the person's arm or shoulder regularly and has a more relaxed grin on her face. When she is talking she seems more natural and more passionate about what she is saying, letting feelings show.
The closest thing she has to a pet is her familiar, Klia the caribou. Klia is a strong male caribou with impressive antlers and two marks under his eyes, trait that was passed to Mahina in their Bonding Ceremony. The two share a strong bond and they share many characteristics, like their fear of wolves, liking for cold climates and sweet tooth. But their favorite activity is by far the races.
This is a hobby that they share, and that they have practiced since they were young. Mahina gets on Klia's back and she holds to his antlers while she leads him wherever they need to go at high speeds, this is both fun and useful as a transportation. Mahina has been doing this for so long that she doesn't even moves whenever Klia jumps or turns around suddenly, knowing perfectly how to keep her balance.
Mahina also enjoys to take samples of things she considers interesting in her travels, she also collects and takes care of any maps or travel charts she can find.
Mahina talks in a proper way but not formal enough to make her look snobby, when she is in a familiar place or with someone she knows she might relax and speak more freely. She doesn't like to curse but will probably do so if she is scared or really angry.

History
Klaus and Mahina met at the Speaker trials, where he found her training for the big day. They started chatting and discovered that they had a natural appeal to one another. They decided to side together while the trials lasted and tried to add Beatrix to their team but decided against it, keeping Enaiid.
The three of them became good friends and as they got to know each other better Klaus and Mahina fell for one another. And while at the beginning they both kept it secret and didn't realize the other felt the same way with the passing of time it became clear.
They shared a lot of their secrets and Klaus even got to meet Mahina's family the last time she saw them. Still they kept their relationship as friendly due to the situation that would be caused on the Council of Whispers if they took things to another level.
After the Rifting Skirmish began and Arima was killed they both didn't know how to react to this new enemy they had known for so long. When they stole the hairpin and performed the spell their relationship ended abruptly as Mahina disappeared.
This left Klaus devastated and he continues to look for his friend while Enaiid did the same, trying to save her and the world from the incoming war.

Mahina liked Klaus because of his care-free attitude and security, while Klaus appreciated her calm and pacifist nature. They balanced each other and they would always be willing to help each other out.
But, Mahina always tried to keep Klaus at an arms length, mainly due to wanting to keep her family a secret but also because she was catching feelings quickly and didn't want to step into a forbidden relationship as her father did.
As for Klaus he understood were Mahina was coming from, and he kept a bit of a distance, wanting to respect her wishes and the rules for the Speakers. However he would usually fantasize about what could happen when their term ended.

Klaus and Mahina share a similar sense of humor and absolutely love to travel, to see and experience new things. They love to stargaze and could pass seasons just discovering the different types of food each place of Myridiam has to offer.

Enaiid met Mahina and Klaus at the Speaker trials, after they helped him escape a pissed Beatrix. They quickly became friends, and due to the proximity and time they spent together he began to develop romantic feeling towards Mahina over the years. Who never failed to surprise him with her tenderness and sensibility.
However he never voiced them, knowing that she had a preference for their friend in common. This made him a bit resentful towards Klaus, but he never acted on it. Still confiding in both of them and cherishing the time they spent together.
Unfortunately when the Council of Whispers deliberated over the Rift and Mahina supported Klaus he used one of the things she had told her against her. After she stealed his hairpin he murdered the Shifting Stone Keeper, who was a father figure to her. (Unknown to those outside of their friend group)
This stranded their relationship, and with her disappearance no one knows how he feels about her. Since he claims that she reconsidered her position on the war and he seems eager to find his "friend" again, over who he has declared he worries a lot about.

Enaiid considered Mahina and Klaus his closest relationships. However he always felt as if they cared more about each other than about him. When Mahina chose to stand with Klaus about the Rifting Skirmish he felt betrayed as never before, and filled with rage he murdered the Shifting Stone Keeper. This led to Mahina, Klaus, Beatrix and Anari stealing Sielu's hairpin, making him even madder. He is still looking for Mahina after her mysterious disappearance, and no one knows what he will do if he succeeds.

History
Elian was a kind father to Mahina, not always present but not bad in any aspect, and her relationship with her family was in good term. They were close and they trusted each other, however after the affair he had was revealed along with the existence of her half brother Mahina's perspective on him gave a 180 degrees turn.
Her family was a chaos since that, her mother, uncles and cousins where in constant battle with her stuck in the middle most of time. When this happened an old family friend neared her and they became close, with him almost replacing her father figure.
Unfortunately her family didn't seem to get better and when she was an adult she was willing to leave without a second thought. After that she became the Speaker of Selene, and though her family, specially her father, tried to reach her, Mahina didn't seem to be interested, for her it was too late.

They both thought they had a good relationship until the secret was exposed, after that Mahina felt betrayed and she tried to avoid him because she felt deeply hurt. On Elian's side he couldn't believe that his daughter refused to see him do he blamed Mahina's mother, only making her feel worse and ruining the relationship they still had.

Mahina's family, the Galaxs, are wealthy people, they are not as rich as some other families in Mirage City but they have a good income. They also had a big house and were considered medium-high class by those around them, however after her father's scandal the family's finances where slightly damaged. Luckily they got better with time and now they are probably in their original state.
Her family bussiness consists on production of Connecting Pages which are really necessary products for almost any Tamer in Myridiam, they also had investments in several groups of cartographers that where exploring the North Lands.
