Crossing City

Around 75 years ago, the portal that made Crossing the city it is today appeared through what is now believed to be the treachery of the void sovereign. This portal connected the dissonant worlds of Myriad and Arixia. One a world of deep and powerful magic. And the other initially bereft of it. This inevitably led to tensions and war. In a conflict that would later become known as the Crossing war. The kythan dynasty that once held the land where the portal opened began the hostilities. And marched upon the world of Arixia. The denizens of whom responded with cunning and brutality so fierce that they managed to push the kythan forces back through the rift, Blackening the sky and surging in lycanthropic brutality through a bloody ritual called the wolfnight. And laying waste to the former capital with the titan Askas. The ruins of it’s lifeless body now a monument to the war east of the city in a place travellers call Askas fall.   After the crossing war a settlement formed around the portal from refugees from both sides. The city became a hub for travelers between the two worlds as well as a sprawling metropolis. Under the unofficial patronage of the blood sovereign Cepheid Da’siadra and the leadership and keen intellect of chancellor bellwether and the rest of the united crossing council. This sprawling interworldly geometric nightmare has managed to flourish on both sides of the portal.   The city received it’s now infamous outer wall and iron district during the godslayer calamity. A gift given by Ivaldi and the dwarves of breach. Who have since largely integrated into the city as well
