Mythos

By Konrad Bennett Hughes
In the beginning Obmhann, God of Deception and D’Kaiosyni, Goddess of Justice, were lovers, for a new truth cannot be made without illusion. Their offspring is magic itself, the reality of it and the hoax. But Obmhann was ever full of Ruse. Lady Justice, D’Kaiosyni, caught him with his eyes caressing a mortal’s flesh, and threw him from her bed, not able to bear his wicked gaze any longer. He has ever wandered from the embraces of mortal to deity and back again. His people, the Rhodez, have ever wandered also, nomads and scavengers of the plains and plateaus. While D’Kaiosyni’s priests, the Matia, are trapped in an unstoppable search for Justice in a world devoid of Truth, Obmhann’s people ever search for a home.   Forstora, Goddess of the Wind, and Thelune, God of the Sea, are eternally married, for the winds and the seas will always rage and return to calm. Their son, Telassón, rules the Inner Sea, the Mare ‘On. Telassón keeps the waters of the Mare ‘On under his sway, the seasons are exact; he, when angered, calls storms down from his mother and father’s constant battles out upon the Turquoise Sea. Forstora constantly brings warm winds into the northern realm of her favored Children of the ancient Kingdom, Benselot. The People of Telassón, just across the Gap from Benselot, reap much of the benefits also, unless their Mother, Forstora, is angered by them.   D’Kaiosyni, Goddess of Justice, and the Goddess of the Night, Zulmat, are sisters. Long separated by a troubled world, they constantly seek accord, for together they are the goddesses of divination and destiny. Foresight and dreams speak truth. Ever in the shadows of twilight and dawn they meet to scheme the destiny of mortals. But nay, their accords are few and their feuds many, as the World tumbles into oblivion, without their divine guidance.   Nuru, God of the Sun, was once the lover of Zulmat. They have long hated each other though. Nuru fell in love with Luna, Goddess of the Moon, the daughter of Zulmat. Fleeing, he took Luna away from her mother into the sky, forever separating the night and day. Zulmat cursed them though, only allowing them to conjoin during eclipses. Luna’s father, Obmhann, is ever aiding his daughter’s schemes though, their ties of kinship bound tight.   About the same time as Nuru and Luna were separated, Kảneid, Goddess of the Soil, left the embrace of Yama, God of Stone, sick of his ever-dour mood, drilling deeper into their Firstborn child, Myria, the world we live in, deeper into her flesh with his Dwarven Sons. Kảneid then seduced Nuru, the Sun-God, to bring bountiful life upon the surface of her First Child. The earth bloomed with the joining of Kảneid and Nuru. Life sprang forth like never before, multiplying, seeping into crevasses of Myria’s flesh, as the brightness of Nuru shone upon the world.   Apophis, the Great Serpent, was the first and only child of Yama and Zulmat. She tricked him in the darkness of Myria’s bones. Appearing as Kảneid, his lost love, in a wonderous cavern of light and beauty, Yama lay with Zulmat, and the end of light was assured with their union. Hidden in the depths of Myria, Zulmat birthed the Serpent of Doom, for one day Apophis will finish consuming all that lays below the surface of this planet and all will collapse to nothingness again, as it was before the first Children of the Gods.   The Children of Kảneid and Nuru, the Wood Elves, were the first of their Fey kind to arise. Deep forests and shadowed glades have always been their home. They tamed the first beasts and when Nuru would leave Kảneid’s side, during eclipses to return to Luna, they brought the son of Thelune to her, Telesson. The children of Telesson and Kảneid are the Centaur and the Unicorn, the most noble of magical creatures, as well as the Sea Elves, an elusive fey breed of the Far Isles.   Dewlemend, God of Wealth, is ever single, ever drunk, and ever ready to seduce Goddesses angry at their husbands. He has had dalliances with many immortal and mortal alike. He ever seeks pleasures of the flesh for himself and others. His people the Aczee, the Children of Gold, follow suit, reveling in his forgetful madness of bliss and temptation. The great droll city of Acze Zere, twin to H’carkyani, is their dwelling place. Across the straits of Dkai, lies H’carkyani, city of Knowledge, where A’asipanyar is revered above all others.   The Union of Wealth and Knowledge which once was, ended after the birthing of their only child. Dewlemend lay with A’asipanyar when Myria was but an infant, upon a bed of molten gold deep in this worlds belly. In the conception a strangeness occurred though, as the child of their union emerged immediately after the God Dewlemend had spilled his seed into A’asipanyar divine womb. From the liquid gold of their union bed, the molten fires of wealth, rose Drakon, the Great Worm. His bulk is a behemoth to behold, his scales are magma-made flesh, his tail is a wicked barbed fury, the fires within his belly are those which carved Myria’s skin, which wrought the very mountains and valleys of this world, and his toothy jaws are the maw of death to all mortals. He is Drakon, Father of Dragons.   The High elves are the other children of A’asipanyar, born from her union with Telassón. A short affair, but one that changed much for gods and men as the arcane powers of these elves is great, beyond that of their other kin. A’asipanyar’s only other union was with Obmhann, when he seduced her after Telassón left her side for the freedom of the waves. These children of Knowledge and Tricks are the Sphinx, creatures of immense knowledge and constant duplicity, first of whom was Pharah the Queen of Sphinx.   Need to add: Yaldabaal and Baphomet and Almo Evo The Satyr Kings, including Bhov Frit The elven goddess Lainier became a demon lord after Korokan Vildamir cast her into the Abyss for betraying Elvenkind to mankind. Sages claim that the Dwarven Dark King Dossti originated on some other plane before stealing his abyssal title from another long-forgotten demon lord.
