Elak’mul

By Konrad Bennett Hughes
In the northern part of the Duchy of Elak’ris lies a mountainous claw of the Oska Bergs named Elak’mul. There are no cities in this region, but several towns and villages dot the landscape. Mosky and Brundalla were once thriving trade towns between the mines in the mountains and the settlements to the south, while Elborg and Borg’dalla are fortified settlements that serve to guard this border region.
The army camp on the map was built by a raiding army of Barbani currently poised to strike south into the heartlands of Elak’ris. They have set up fortified bases near Elborg in the north and at the bridge across the Hemmis River in the south.
Many ruins a scattered across this landscape as well. The two Ruined Cities on either side of the mountainous law are rumored to be haunted by strange ghosts of the inhabitants. The Lost Temple hidden in the mountain passes was once dedicated to a demi-god, but the identity of this deity has been lost to time.
Outside the southern Ruined City lies a rough cut stairway named the Sky Steps that leads up to the Darkwall, an arch built by dwarven stonemasons dedicated to a triumphant battle in the ancient past.
The Keepers Tower is also an ancient structure but has been long inhabited by the astronomer Harmog Blitzum. He is known to watch the stars and hoard arcane knowledge. The locals sometimes make the trek up to his tower to have their fortunes told to them by the wizened hermit.
The old Temple of Forstora nestled in the Dul-dum Deep has been abandoned for centuries. Occasionally folk will make a pilgrimage to this sacred place but often they do not return home.
Dangerous, haunted, and infested with strange creatures this is not a place to wander through for those faint of heart. Travel with caution.
