Anaxanean Empire

By Konrad Bennett Hughes
Emperor Anaxaneas came to become the greatest hero ever. Remembered in religious cults, myth, and history with differing ways, he is worshipped by all as a demi-god. The son of the Goddess Forstora and Axaneas, King of Bensilot, he rose to supreme power within his lands, then went on to form the first empire, gathering the first the Consilium of Councilors from around the world, and building the Temple of Justice. He led the armies of the Unified Kingdoms into battle against rampaging behemoth monsters and ravaging barbarian hordes, always to victory. Dyeing at the age of 347, he was the longest living man for thousands of years, since before the Gods first sent their Children out into the world. His sons tore the world he had built apart, though; even more quickly than he had formed it. Each son was given a parcel of the Emperor’s lands, none was to inherit his august title. The Kingdoms were to work together in rule. His youngest son Alcumasius took a fleet of ships across the western ocean, never to return. Meanwhile his other brothers plotted to overthrow one another. Aglasius and Aripathus joined forces to topple Axanmeon from his powerbase in Bensilot. After being defeated at the Battle of the Fjords in Isvieldara, he fled to Isulstad where he build up defenses intending to hold out against the forthcoming siege. Aglasius had other plans though. Allying himself with Forstora’s chief servant, Typhoon, who had long envied the power of the Children of the Gods, Aglasius launched a magical bombardment upon Isulstad the city-isle. With Typhoon’s aid, they crushed the defenders and slaughtered much the populace of the city in the process. And man was forever severed from the Gods.
