They engage in acts of Robin Hood-style thievery, stealing from the rich and redistributing the wealth among the poor. This has earned them a certain level of respect and admiration among the lower classes. Additionally, the Laughing Hand runs a number of legitimate businesses, such as inns, taverns, and market stalls, using them as a front for their more illicit activities, which include smuggling contraband and running a network of spies and informants.
Having begun as a thieves' guild in Thoronlond, Under the nose of both the Estari Dominion and the Syndicate, the Laughing Hand have expanded their influence by keeping their ambitions and their actions more discerete than the Syndicate's, the Laughing Hand grew to a more widespread organized crime network across the Estari Dominion and beyond. Led by their founder, Lila Ravenwood, they grew beyond their humble beginnings and have recently accumulated more and more power, becoming a genuine threat to the Syndicate's interests.
