Summary

The god Aÿ took the water away from the Lake and kept it for themself, for a reason that varies depending on the myth. Regardless of which version, the story ends with the gods Oosh and Roosaaf singing a song that helps Aÿ begin to return the water.
The song is now one of the many songs that are sung on the Day of Zafeo.

Historical Basis

After the Golden Age of the Raron kingdom, the water from Lake Raro began to dry up. The river that fed the lake simply stopped, dammed by some kind of magic that turned the river into a closed lake, as if the oceans themselves refused to fill up the basin. Even rain seemed to disappear on impact, leaving only the salt flats and cracked earth where there once had been plentiful fish and unyozeoaa.

Cultural Reception

People have mixed feelings about Aÿ. Some say that they were innocent and had no ill will against the people of Raro, but others believe that Aÿ's jealousy and spitefulness is what motivated them to take away the livelihoods of so many people. In the stories, Oosh and Roosaaf are the heroes, no matter the version.
