The two Veinhouses in the northeast are the Paban Àskan and the Kaloran Àskan. While the two share many aspects of their culture, the Paban people are surrounded by mountains that block their access to some of the major rivers of the north, called the Veins, and remain in control of only one, the Muhe Vein. As the two Veinhouses have historically had many significant differences in political policy and social action, they have generally not been especially pleased to work together in many ventures.

Structure

Both Veinhouses are run by a Veinlord, a leader whose rank is passed down generation to generation within a single family. Under the Paban Veinlord, there are two Riverlords, one that has control of the southern part of the river near Lake Raro and one in the northern part of the river in Sepo. It is possible for Riverlords to be in the same family as the Veinlord, but over the course of history that has been very rare. There is an urge to share the responsibilities in order to be fair to the people living under them.

History

Sepo, the seat of the Paban Veinlord, is the coldest city in the world.
