Westurai
Westurai are a race of statues, each magically hewn from stone and/or metal with a fully formed mind and impetus. Created by a celestial god to articulate their designs on the Material Plane, westurai are a mysterious, enigmatic race devoted entirely to their divine purpose, or at least they were. They were made to guard a temple, gather information, destroy evil, whatever the purpose their actions were dictated to the letter by the god who created them. They obeyed these orders unthinkingly without passion or emotion. However, at some point, no more orders ever came. The celestial god had vanished, or was slain perhaps. Either way, the westurai have suddenly gained sentience in the absence of their controller. Now the westurai wander the world trying to build a place for themselves, and find a new purpose.
