Leonin
Prides of these territorial, lion-like humanoids rarely interact with other peoples, having all they need in their shimmering homeland and knowing the treachery of strangers. Still, some leonin wonder what lies beyond their pride’s territory and seek to test themselves in a wider world. The leonin were the first race created by Beory, a race of prideful, gladiatorial warriors who test themself in the arena or battlefield. They claim vast territories and guard them mercilessly. Despite their ruthlessness with their enemies and their crude looking culture, amongst their allies and friends, leonin are extremely friendly and happy people. Their gladiator fights are not upsetting to them, they love the glory of combat and after each battle celebrate their victory with alcohol with all their friends, often the loser of the battle will even join them in the celebration as it’s all just a sport to them, if they still live that is.
Despite what many think, the leonin gladiators are highly trained and skilled combatants, and most are voluntary. Though it is true prisoners of war are often forced into being gladiators, or even sentenced to death in fights that take place in the arena, the majority of gladiators are warriors who joined voluntarily, and are trained by highly esteemed and skilled trainers. In fact, most of the gladiators work together in what is like a guild of sorts, in the arena the goal is not to kill your opponent, its to entertain, and the gladiators are expert entertainers.
