The creation of the star forge

Founding

11100 FE

The high elf Arinna the first of the Sundered Synasty, builds the star forge and funds the Kingdom of the Blazing Sun, her people will be known as the Sun Elves (or Anor Elves in elvish). She also forges the crown of the forge, used to control the star forge, it is said that the forge will stay lit only if a true descendent of Arinna wears the crown.

Arinna was a smith of the high elves, but she wanted more in her life, she acted as if she was royalty and earned the nickname: "the queen of nothing" from the noble High elf society, were she a lesser smith she would probably be imprisoned for her blatant disregard of elven hierarchy. One day Arinna learned that the fire giant in their ancient empire tried to replicate the sun to build a forge capable of producing weapons that could cut through anything, so she begged the elven nobility to finance an expedition to the ancient city. After many refusals, a noble she-elf by the name of Ithil agreed to finance the expedition, Arinna, and thirty elven warriors departed for the ancient capital of the fire giants, the journey was treacherous and full of perils, first, they had to traverse the untamed northern wilds full of treents, trolls, and other monsters, then the green mountains home of wyverns and kobolds finally the ruined city was home to an elven dark sorcerer, whom trough necromancy had raised an army of undead and abominations to defend the riches of the city, and a rich city it was not only in weapons, gems, and minerals but archives full of knowledge, in particular on the art of forging. When the city was finally conquered only Arinna and five of her companions were still alive. In the city, Arinna found not only the secret to building the Star Forge but also a partially built one. All she needed now was a heart of an ancient red dragon and the soul of an efriti, a djin of the fire plane. She ordered her companions to help her, and although they were not too pleased, they swore an oath to Lady Ithil and they were bound by it so they did. The efriti was the easy part, long had elven mages discovered the means of planar travel through the elemental planes, and although very powerful the efriti are too prideful to believe mortals a threat so they can be easily ambushed. The ancient red dragon was more bothersome but though she had no star forge yet, she had the fire giants forges and Arinna was a smith more than capable of producing a sword sharp enough to cut through dragon scales. So the efriti was captured by disguising one of Arinna's companions as an exotic slave to sell to the djin, and during the encounter, they ambushed him with a magic lantern. The dragon was more difficult, Arinna sent her companion to scout the nearest mountains, and after they reported sight of the wyrm (a sight not so uncommon in that era), she organized an expedition to the mountains with gold from the ruined city as a gift, so not to be burned instantly.   The dragon was surprised and asked Arinna the reason for the gift, and if she thought that he could not get the ritches of the city himself without help from the lesser races, Arinna knowing the ego of dragons told him that she only wished to serve him and that she was no mear elf but an elven queen, and asked him: "how many dragons can say to have a queen for a slave?", the dragon who knew the area well rebutted: " you are no queen, you come from an aincent dead city of my enemy, nothing lives there but rats and bugs, so pray tell me what are you the queen of?", Arinna responded, " I am, Queen of all you cannot have, I am the queen of the void, of that that cannot be grasped, and my realm is vaster that the realm of any god and in fact of all the gods and demons combined, no one could inherit my kingdmom for I am the queen of nothing, and that is much more than all." The dragon appreciated the wits of the ellf, for there are few things that a dragon likes more than a good conversation, so the wyrm agreed to let Arinna serve him, on the condition that her remaining companions would become the dragon's dinner. Arinna agreed and in few vicious moments the dragon devoured all the five elves, some stupidly tried to fight, some smartly tried to run, and some wise begged for mercy but in but a few moments it was all over.   Arinna Served the dragon for three days, polishing gemstones and precious baubles, and on the third night having convinced him that she could cook him a meal, she poisoned the food and when the wyrm was weak carved his chest with her sword stealing his heart. (The sword is still an heirloom in the Sundered Dynasty it is called the Heart Stealer or Emel Veler in elvish)   Arinna finished the forge and then invited all the underclass of elven society to join her, artisans, soldiers, miners, petty thieves, and merchants; all those elves who were not considered good enough in the previous society can start a new life in a kingdom were everyone is equal except for one, the queen who stands above all, shining like a litteral star terrible as the sun.   And so the elven kingdom of the sun was born, and Ithil and the other of the high elven nobility, never receiving what was promised them cursed the Sundered Dinasty to be betrayed like she betrayed them.
