The birth of magic and the creation of the Feywild and Shadowfell

An astral storm hits the material plane creating the winds of magic, pure chaotic energy left over from the creation of the universe, it can be harnessed to change the fabric of reality, and alter the law and order of the lawful gods. Although the universe craves balance so this power is not without a price. The gods try to isolate the magic in two planes parallel to the material to keep their creation from this chaotic influence, the feywild a plane of color, instinct, passion, and emotion; and the shadowfell a plane of apathy devoid of color and life, for the gods crave order and balance and could not build one without the opposite.  These mirror planes are separated from the material plane by the ethereal plane.
