Magic sight

Almost all people born with the talent to work magic have some degree of magic sight that can be developed and expanded with training so the spellcaster can actually see the ebb and flow of the winds of magic, witness the scintillating colors of magical chaos energy in its raw form, and be better able to harness it for the casting of spells. An Individual with magic sight can see the colors and flow of the winds of magic meaning they can roughly identify which kind of energy emanates from magical objects such as divine, abyssal, or coming from one particular elemental plane. Almost all elves are born with magic sight, even those not particularly magically adept but this phenomenon is rare in other races. It is extremely rare that an individual with powerful arcane attunement does not possess magic sight but it can and has happened historically, Konrad Sandhurst the mage leading the mages civil war in The Empire of the White Flame was such an individual.
