Goblins

A subterranean folk, goblins can be found in every corner of Mundus, often beside their bugbear and hobgoblin kin. Goblins are small averaging 1.20 m tall, with skin that varies between various tonalities of green and tan. Goblins may seem weak but have a knack for finding the weak points of larger races, making them dangerous even in 1v1 combat. Most goblins live now among civilized races, especially in the Free City of Hadùr, but small tribes can be found in caves in the wilderness of Mundus, some goblins even live as pirates on the high seas with no permanent settlement, landing only to resupply by violence or trade. Most goblinoids believe they arrived on Mundus from Didon, where apparently there is an advanced civilization of space-faring goblins, most scholars, however, find this proposition absurd, believing instead that goblinoids evolved from a common now-extinct ancestor. Goblins live to be 30 years old and mature much faster than most other races, becoming adults at 1 year old.

Goblin tribes

Goblins still living in tribal settlements in caves around Mundus find themselves subjugated by the strongest among them, this could be another goblinoid such as a bugbear or a hobgoblin, or even a member of a completely other race such as an ogre or a troll. Usually, goblin tribes have no strict hierarchy the only law being the strongest rules. Tribal goblins live by fight or flight instinct, attacking anything they perceive as a manageable threat and fleeing any conflict they believe is unwinnable. Tribal goblins display a knack for simple mechanisms such as traps, but nothing complex like the ones produced by civilized goblins. Goblin tribes live in caverns both natural and goblin-made, usually, no buildings are constructed but simple furniture does exist, some tribes may have a wooden door guarding the entrance.

Civilized Goblins

Goblins living amongst other races easily adapt to the local culture, those living in the city of Hadùr are mostly employed by Freedom Front as workers or engineers. Living among more civilized people somewhat dulls the normal goblin instinct of fight or flight, and brings out their tinkering and engineering capabilities, civilized goblins are capable of building complex traps, guns, weapons, explosives, and even small constructs but they do tend to ignore safety concerns for the user.

Major language groups and dialects

Goblins speak goblin, the language is common amongst all goblinoids but shares no lineage with other languages on Mundus, the language has an alphabet but no written numbers (numbers are written as words so "one" instead of "1") and is almost always used for practical purposes. Goblins living amongst other cultures almost always learn that culture primary language.
