Crail
Crail is a sprawling city located on the southeastern coast of Ishar, surrounded by high mountains and rolling hills. The city is dominated by the imposing presence of the Crail Military Academy, a massive fortress-like structure that serves as the center of the martial regime's power.
The cityscape has towering stone walls with high towers that serve as griffons' breeding nests. Each wall and tower is adorned with banners bearing the sigils of the various noble houses. The academy itself is a massive complex of stone towers and training grounds, with the City's flag flying high above.
The society of Crail is heavily militarized, with a strong emphasis on discipline and loyalty to the City and The Empire of The White Flame. The citizens are fiercely patriotic, cheering on their favorite baronies in the perpetual wars that rage outside the city walls. The culture of Crail revolves around honor, duty, and martial prowess.
Crail was founded millennia ago as a strategic military outpost of a human kingdom that predates the kingdom of Aurum, and over the years, it has grown into a powerful independent city. The city has weathered numerous wars and conflicts, always emerging victorious due to the strength of its military academy and the fierce loyalty of its citizens.
The city of Crail is governed by a martial regime, with power concentrated in the hands of the military elite. The ruler of Crail is known as the High Marshal, a title held by the head of the military academy. The High Marshal wields absolute authority within the city, overseeing all aspects of governance and defense. The city is divided into districts, each overseen by a military commander appointed by the High Marshal.
The baronies outside the city, known as Eastern and Western Crail, are semi-autonomous, governed by their respective barons who owe allegiance to the High Marshal. The wars between the baronies are seen as a way to hone the martial skills of their citizens and maintain a sense of competition and camaraderie among the people of Crail. Once a war is over the borders of the baronies are returned to their original size and the war begins again after six months of preparation.
