Stone Guard

The Stone Guard originally formed as an emergency militia of Dwarves to fight off invading barbarians from the old woods . Made up of miners prospecting the mountains around the Cloud Monastery, the Guard built the first bridges and towers of Web City as a means of defense. After fending off several hundred barbarians with few losses on their side, word spread and refugees began pouring into the area. As the population grew, the militia transformed into a policing force and became the Stone Guard known today.

Structure

The Guard is made up of mostly Dwarves and members are recruited as career members. Advancement is based on merit and seniority. The oldest members are added to the lottery of elders that selects 3 Guard elders every 3 months to arbitrate the most difficult crimes.
