The Haggish Quest Report
General Summary
After promising the Thimbletop family to do everything possible to find a cure for BinBin's lycanthropy curse, the Reconcilers make tracks back across town to Vallivoe's Sundries for another look into the addicting piles and possible books and knowledge on hags or lycanthropy. Spending almost all afternoon and evening in the store the the trio heads back to the Thimbletop's house to check on them and make sure the proper precautions are being made as the Lion begins to rise full in the night sky. After examining the converted meat locker that will be her bedroom tonight the group departs with the intent to return before full nightfall. Catching word that the Sheriff had been looking for them at the Yapping Dragon the group strolls down to the tavern for dinner and payment. Once inside the, Fiona scans the crowd for the minstrel known as Billy Joe. Unable to find him and the stage empty, Melatona decides it is his time to sign. Over the course of his signature set, Melatona manages to insight drowsiness, peace, and existentialism in the crowd. While establishing himself as thoroughly the most daring-do and talented performer Yappy's had seen in a while, Melatona ends the night instructing his captivated audience to remember to love one another regardless of their difference and to go spend quality time with their family, and of course, to thank a farmer. In the crowd and somehow remaining unseen in a special seat next to the bar is the Sheriff. He approaches the group and is insistent on paying them. Once the town's debt is settled, the Sheriff seems more eager to discover the details of their past adventure. His lack of racism is refreshing but his obedience to the law makes Melatona weary. The Reconcilers, having decided earlier that their best chance of defeating a Hag lies in gathering knowledge in the Capital, ask the Sheriff is a Letter of Permission might be awarded to Athena for a visit to the Capital because of her courageous acts to protect Riparian. The Sheriff departs to inquire about such things and the party retires back to the Thimbletop's house, desiring to be present at first moonlight. However after the Sheriff arrives to inform them the Duke has agreed to a meeting the party splits leaving the stoic monk, Fiona, to handle what may awaken in the night. While a flamboyant Duke interagates Melatona and Athena about how they got to be the talk of the town, Fiona sweats it out with the Thimbletop parents as a now mutated and creepy BinBin begs to be released from her prison. Eventually the Duke agrees to the Letter of Permission and says he will have someone bring it to them at the docks in the morning before they depart. Once the party is together again a long, ominous, and tense night is finished out, scored by Melatona's hammer dulcimer. The Sun rises on the 7th day of Somierach, two days since the death of the Rat King.
