Race to the Capital Report

General Summary

On the 11 Day of Somierach the Reconcilers reach the docks or the capital city of Hoffenheim. After disembarking the Blue Dragon Athena is promptly met with scorn, jeers, and name calling. Addressing the crowd, Athena retorts back with equally nasty swears in the language of the Orcs. It briefly draws the attention of Orcish Caliphate merchants who laugh gruffly at the plucky human. Entering through the gates of the Hoffenheim the trio notes the ornately armored "Praetorian" guards at the gate. After a moments of culture shock at the fast paced life here in the city the group manages the orient themselves and get directions to the nearest market, not before seeing a naked man trying the sell peculiarly similar green peppers. Eventually Melotana asks a Praetorian for directions and advice of to whom Athena should present her letter of permission. After some verbal dancing to get used to the mechanical thinking and logic of the guard Melotana gets everyone an escort to the Sheriffs of Hoffenheim. Some questions are asked, papers are exchanged, and a spare Praetorian is assigned to watch Athena the Reconcilers are guided to the Glittergold Library, the Greatest Library of it's Time. Melotana uses his signature silver tongue to banter with and persuade the Lord of the Library to take them to the Hag/Lycanthropy sections. And after Nibbles informs the Party the he wants to do his own research, and Fiona and Athena fail at quickly finding anything useful in the shear vastness of the collection, Melatona finesses his way into using The All-Seeing Scribe. It is able to quickly locate an old manuscript that details several ways to cure lycanthropy including the touch of an angel, a forgotten holy spell, bartering with hags, killing the one who cursed the original lycanthrope, and a potion known as wolfsbane. But the information came at a small cost. The knowledge of the manipulation of an older generation of kalashtar by the humans to create something of dream machine called The Incubus and the current efforts of the Small Council to make a modern version with the "help" of an enclave of Kalashtar here in the city. After falsely translating some old Kalashtar texts on the matter and desperately communicating the danger of such a device to the Lord of the Library, the Reconcilers leave to return to the docks. After some encouragement of the dock hands to load the cargo faster, the group and Captain Langley set course back up the Ruby Run to Riparian.
