Hiatus
General Summary
Ascending the craggy hill, the Reconcilers get their first look at their newly inherited property, Buckdell Manor. Even in it's abadoned state, the majesty of the castle is compelling. Tall walls, open air courtyards, towering spires, stainglass windows, all work together to create this bastion of protection for the village of Buckdell below.
However, the Manor's message of safety has been replaced by ominousness. The citizens of Buckdell behaved strangely the day prior, as if a fugue state of paranoia, despair, ambivilence, or forgettfulness had blanketed the town. The grip of the odd behavior increasing with proximity to the Manor.
After opening the main gate and clearing the lower courtyard of any precievable danger, the Reconcilers bid Flail the Flail Snail to make himself comfortable. Sir Berenstein takes it upon himself to look after the group's prize companion while Melatona, Fiona, and Athena investigate more of the Manor grounds. The first thing to catch the group's attention, mainly Athena's, is an impact crater and debris field found in the Upper Courtyard. Within the crater is a onyx sphere, unmared and unbroken. The curious material is determined to be not of any material commonly found on Mundheim. This peeks Athena's curiosity past the barriers of caution. Taking a more hands on approach to her investigation, Athena tries to find any seam or concealed runes or anything that might indicate the origin or purpose of this orb. It is then that Fiona's perceptive eyes catch a pattern in the debris surrounding the orb. Bipedal tracks, varying in size, obsconding away from the orb in different directions. Fiona, looking from the tracks back to the orb, spots oily black cephalopodous appendages erupt from Athena's back, through her tunic, unferrling and streching like long contained tentacles. Before the bizarre development can be properly addressed, Melatona spots a face concealed in the shadows of the arrow slot in the Manor's outer wall. Melatona reached out with his innate Keleshtar telepathy to communicate with the creepy smiling creature. The Reconcilers soon realize this creature, malevalent in nature, were from the orb, feasted on positive mental energy of sentient beings, and were planning a "feast at dawn". The group dispatched the smiling horros and began clearing the castle in an attempt to find the source of the larger tracks that led away from the orb in the crater. Looking from top to bottom the Reconcilers discovered cackling laughs along with an unnerving squelching noise and clacking of chiten on marble stone emminating from behind ornately carved throne room doors. The battle that ensued can be summarized in three words, Fireball, Worms, and Victory. After the successful defeat of all aberrations found within the Manor the group set down their weapons and packs to rest. The following morning, the group elects to check on the fief of Buckdell; hopeful that they will find Joy Restored.
