5053 Campaigns

The 5053 Campaigns are the latest in a series of offensives and counteroffensives launched during the Tolméhrian-Nasrodian War. Starting with a major Tolméhrian push into Nasrodian territory on Pagia, it has encompassed much of the western part of Pagia, and has spread to the overseas colonies to the south.

The Conflict

Prelude

Ever since the founding of the Tolméhrian Empire in 5010, the Tolméhrians have been at war with the Republic of Nasrodia. Bombing raids sent into each other's territory became the norm and a weekly occurence for the next few decades, while numerous offensives had been launched by both sides, only to be met with a counteroffensive that invariably made what gains were achieved not worth the cost. The last offensive launched by the Nasrodians occured in 5045, and although they had managed to capture some Tolméhrian and Bironian settlements, were eventually pushed back when they lost control of the skies to the Tolméhrian Imperial Air Service, and entire army groups found themselves under attack from ruthless carpet-bombing sorties. 
Following the 5045 Campaign, both sides spent the next several years rearming and amassing their forces for another offensive, while continuing strategic bombing missions. Both sides would put special emphasis on their air forces, producing thousands of new warplanes for interception of enemy aircraft, bombing missions or troop and equipment transport, although this did not stop them from continuing to churn out more armoured vehicles and artillery for their ground forces. This would be the longest period of time since the war started where neither side would launch an offensive into each other's territory.

Deployment

In 5053, Tolméhrian Imperial Staff decided that the time was right to launch a pre-emptive strike and seize the initiative. Blessed by the Emperor and the Church of Rog, thousands of transport aircraft carrying troops, tanks and artillery were flown across the border, with the Imperial Air Service saturating Nasrodian defences with aerial attacks, and ground assaults led by armour punching through Nasrodian lines. Makeshift airstrips were set up all across the desert as both the Imperial Air Service and the Nasrodian Air Corps worked overtime to gun down each other's aerial transport convoys, bomber squadrons, provide cover for their own aircraft, move troops to the front and launch attacks on ground units. Bironian units, seeking vengeance for the invasion of their country in the 5045 Campaign, also fought alongside the Tolméhrians during the push into Nasrodian territory.
