Nira
Original concept of this world:
A new species rises to the stars for the first time in their history. Eager to explore and find out what mysteries await them in the beyond. Excited and dreading the answer to the question:
"Is anyone else out there?"
And the stars responded with silence...
The Story:
Nira is supposed to be centered around an alien species, set well after the stories of Avrakt have ended. This species rises to colonize the stars. And finds no one else there.
They get a foothold int the galaxy, and begin finding anomalies. The occasional stray signal, not matching anything of theirs. A blip on a ship's sensors, brushed off as being a minor glitch in the systems before being forgotten.
Then they find the first thing that could be called a precursor object. A long forgotten nav beacon, decrepit and no longer functioning.
Over the years, they start finding other things, far from enough to put together a full puzzle of the past. But enough to be able to say “we aren't the first.”
After a while, first contact is made, with the descendants of the Tleis. They do little more than make their presence known, then disappear back into the void.
Perhaps, they offer a warning:
“We seek no quarrel with your kind. Our numbers are dwindling with time. And our species will soon be no more.
The largest of our fleets were once thousands of ships strong.
...We are one of four fleets left, none of the others are much larger than us...
…...
We accept the fate that awaits us.
Until then, we live to remember them.
The stars in this region were stained with blood in a great war. Mutual destruction was the ultimate outcome.
We don't know what has become of those who were too far away to become involved directly in the wars, though.
They share a data file that shows the local territories of Avrakt's main faction clusters around the Tleis. Showing from shortly before the war, and changing to show territory changes over the course of and after the war. Many factions and hives blink out of existence. Either from being directly destroyed by their opponents or collapsing due to becoming unstable from the main conflicts.
There's also coords pointing toward those on the other side of the galaxy. Of whom the status is listed as unknown
