The shadows nearby shift almost menacingly, as though something within them has been disturbed. After a couple seconds a barely visible figure speaks from them, a threat clear in her tone. "Who are you, and why are you here."
Maybe this was a bad idea.

Drawing her powers from the Netherworld, her magic is centered around manipulating darkness and interacting with souls in an alarmingly direct manner. Pulling on shadows to hide herself from sight, or lock an opponent in place, helpless to fight back as her magic sucks their life away.
She is also capable of phasing in and out of shadows in a form of teleportation, as well as going between the normal worlds and Netherworld. Using these as a method of long distance travel, as well as to ambush people or escape harm in a fight. It is unknown if she is also capable of flight like her Primal Earth Mirror.

Personal history
Aaevn's accidental discovery that she could wield magic sparked an insatiable curiosity in the fledgling mage. Eagerly searching for more about arcane forces, but trying to avoid drawing attention to herself while she did. Everything she learned about these powers lead to more questions waiting for answers. And though she dabbled in a few different types of specific magic none held her interest for long.
Until she started learning more about manipulating Darkness, Souls, and the Netherworld. The risks of tapping into the Netherworld are high, but she wanted to try anyway. Something about the sound of these powers appealed to her more than the rest had, she felt the risk would be worth the reward.
Shortly after successfully tapping into the netherworld and gaining that power, her civilian records have a massive dip in activity. Almost as though she falls off the face of the Earth at that point. Even Powers Division has little on her activities. It is largely speculation on what she was up to beyond that, with the lack of 'easily' accessed paper trail. It seems her powers gave her an enhanced affinity for staying in the shadows, in both a literal and metaphorical sense.
It is believed she worked as an assassin before the Primal-Praetorian war started, taking out resistance sympathizers or those who kept sticking their nose where it didn't belong. Several scattered reports on deaths are marked as 'natural causes', though remain strange. The occasional eye witness to these deaths saying there 'was something in the shadows nearby' or similar are the only things supporting this theory.
