Rain

Stormlord and Prince of Sarna

Born Zeffeero, but now known by the moniker Rain, this demi-god's story is one of betrayal, entitlement, and a desperate grasp for power. Hailing from Edenia, Rain carries the blood of a god – Argus, the realm's protector. However, his lineage is shrouded in shame. Argus' infidelity resulted in Rain's exile from the royal family, leaving his mother's identity a mystery.   An unnamed Edenian general, motivated by Argus' hefty reward, reluctantly took Rain in. But the warmth of a family home was absent. Raised not with love, but with abuse and neglect, Zeffeero found solace in solitude. His only advantage was the bitter knowledge that he was different, superior even.   When Shao Kahn's invasion shattered Edenia, Rain's world fractured further. Argus fell, and his adoptive father, seeing an opportunity to be rid of the unwanted child, attempted to drown Zeffeero. It was then that his true potential surfaced. In a moment of desperate struggle, Zeffeero discovered his ability to manipulate water – a potent form of hydromancy. The tables were turned, and the very water meant to extinguish his life became his weapon, claiming his tormentor.   Orphaned and adrift in a conquered Edenia, Zeffeero found himself amidst the scattered Edenian Resistance. He trained relentlessly, honing his skills and fueled by a burning desire to restore his homeland. However, his arrogance and bitterness proved to be his undoing. The Edenians, his own people, ostracized him, the weight of his "father-killing" act a millstone around his neck.   This rejection ignited a storm within him. Fueled by resentment, Zeffeero betrayed the Resistance, revealing their location in the Edenian Desert to Shao Kahn. In exchange for his treachery, Zeffeero was promised a leadership role. Shao Kahn, impressed by his ruthlessness, bestowed upon him dominion over Sarna, a desolate region in the desert.
Zeffeero's rule was one of tyranny. He enslaved the very Edenians he claimed to save, controlling their lifeline – water. Drips were rationed, doled out only to those who knelt and addressed him as "Rain." His arrogance knew no bounds.   Shang Tsung, ever the manipulator, sent Rain to Earthrealm with Shao Kahn's permission on a clandestine mission – to infiltrate the Lin Kuei clan and gather intel in exchange for information that Tsung claimed would be extremely worthwhile. Under the alias "Hydro," Rain kept his face perpetually hidden, a man of secrets within a clan known for secrecy. He excelled amongst the Lin Kuei, rising to prominence before vanishing without a trace, leaving the clan bewildered.   His mission complete, Rain returned to Outworld, a revelation promised by Shang Tsung awaiting him. He learned of his true parentage – the son of the fallen god Argus. This wasn't news he received passively. Through manipulation and torture of Edenian survivors, he unearthed details about Argus' grand plan. The god had transferred his essence into a fire elemental named Blaze before Shao Kahn's arrival. The plan – a tournament between Rain's half-brothers, Taven and Daegon, with the victor claiming Argus' mantle as protector of Edenia while he ascended to Elder God status. Shao Kahn's untimely invasion had disrupted this, leaving Blaze to roam Outworld with the godly essence within.   Driven by an insatiable hunger for power, Rain sought out his half-brother Daegon, leader of the Red Dragon clan. He arrived with a proposition – a shared claim to their father's legacy. Daegon, however, wasn't interested in Rain's schemes. Undeterred, Rain set out to claim the godly essence for himself.     Current Events:   The Earthrealm Tournament: Rain is present at the tournament but does not participate.   The Outworld Tournament: Ignoring Shao Kahn's demand to particpate in the tournament this time, Rain instead finally learned of Blaze's location. He tracked him to cave in Outworld and challenged him to a fight. Blaze, unresponsive and seemingly in some sort of trance, continued walking aimlessly. Rain followed him and attacked him at the Pit, a climactic battle ensuing. Victory seemed within Rain's grasp until Daegon intervened, seeking the essence for himself. The ensuing chaos allowed Blaze to escape once more. Rain, defeated and enraged, grabbed a mysterious weapon that lay he sensed nearby - a Katar - that seemed to resonate with his very being, before he was tossed from the pit by Daegon.   Death seemed certain as Rain fell from the height of the Pit. Rain activated the weapon as he fell, feeling it calling to him. Rain was somehow transported to a realm unlike any other – a world of endless storms and churning water, the very essence of his hydromancy. Here, he forged a connection with the Stormblade, learning to command the power of this ethereal realm, which he later learned to be known as the Hydrarealm.   Empowered and reborn as Prince Rain, Stormlord of Sarna, he returned to Outworld to rule over his people with a newfound tenacity. His arrogance tempered by a touch of desperation, Rain ordered a group of his most loyal followers to search for Blaze in secret.   Invasion of Earthrealm: Fueling his ambition for power, Rain keeps the discovery of the Hydrarealm and the Stormblade a closely guarded secret. While outwardly aiding Shao Kahn in the invasion of Earthrealm, Rain harbors a hidden agenda. He intentionally sabotages the invasion from within, ensuring Earthrealm's victory. This "defeat" will serve as a smokescreen, allowing him to retreat to Sarna with a reputation as a disgraced but ultimately loyal servant.   However, Rain's retreat is far from an admission of failure. He sees Earthrealm as a ripe opportunity. Once he has mastered the full potential of the Stormblade and its connection to Hydrarealm, Rain intends to return, not as a pawn in Shao Kahn's conquest, but as a conquering force himself. Earthrealm, weakened by the recent conflict, will be ripe for the taking, allowing him to establish his own dominion under his tyrannical rule. His first objective will be to enslave the members of the Lin Kuei to his side. Earthrealm will be his in time.   Netherrealm:   Deadly Alliance: Rain's Stormblade is destroyed by Daegon, but Rain is powerful enough now to form his own out of water from the Hydrarealm   Outworld Civil War: Rain sides with Mileena and the Edenians in the civil war for Outworld.
