Sarcon

Sarcons are a race of crocodilian humanoids native to the Raintrees of Ashun. They are semi-aquatic and predominantly live in the kingdom of Ornox. Sarcons value communal living and form communities in their towns or cities where they work together to provide food and raise their young. Ornoxian fashion places a strong emphasis on bright colours. Ornoxians frequently wear the feathers of brightly coloured birds all about their persons and use powdered dyes to colour their scales. Despite their fiersome crocodilian appearance, the people of Ornox are generally peaceful despite being extremely effective hunters. Sarcons tend to be very patient, especially while hunting. They use their natural camouflage to blend into the rainforest and wait for prey to emerge, at which point they strike with incredible speed.

As a Sarcon, you have these special traits.
  • Bite: You have a large fanged maw that you can use to make unarmed strikes. The strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier of slashing damage. You can use this instead of the normal unarmed strike.
  • Hungry Jaws: You can throw yourself into a feeding frenzy. As a bonus action, you can make a special attack with your Bite. If the attack hits, it deals its normal damage, and you gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
  • Jaw Snap: You can snap your large maw shut on an enemy. When you do this, you make an unarmed strike that deals 3d6 + your strength modifier. Your target may also be grappled in your jaws. When hit with your Jaw Snap, the target makes a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check against a DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength Modifier. If they fail, they are grappled until the end of their next turn, when they can repeat the saving throw. You can use this feature once per short rest.
  • Hold Breath: You can hold your breath for up to 20 minutes and your swim speed is equal to your walking speed.
  • Natural Armour: You have tough, scaly skin. When you aren’t wearing armor, your base AC is 13 + your Dexterity modifier. A shield’s benefits apply as normal.
  • Hunter's Lore: You gain proficiency with two of the following skills of your choice: Nature, Perception, Stealth, and Survival.
  • Natural Camouflage: You gain advantage on Stealth checks made in forests, jungles, or wetlands.
  • Languages: You speak the Ornoxian dialect of Draconic.
