Galisto

Galisto is the capital city of Bal-Marr and home to its two demigod rulers, Khal and Surk. Although it is a city, a majority of its land is occupied by the Sur'Nak Temple of the Two. The area surrounding the temple grounds is used to house non-clergy workers. Businesses that are not dedicated to the Two are not permitted to operate in Galisto.

Demographics

Galisto is almost entirely populated by Tieflings. The only exceptions to this are the occasional foreign dignitaries and the negligible number of foreigners who are temple converts.

Districts

Galisto's main district, the Inner District, is occupied by the Sur'Nak Temple grounds. This area consists of a large ziggurat building, forming the main part of the temple, and numerous smaller buildings used by the clergy. The main temple area is located at the base of Sur'Nak and connects directly with the passage leading into the volcano to the chambers of Khal and Surk.
The outer district sits outside the walls of the Sur'Nak Temple and is home to residents who are not members of the clergy but are needed to perform necessary functions for the running of the city. There are also several tenements and inns for travellers and pilgrims who are visiting the Sur'Nak Temple.
