“The Welcome Square”
Location: Just inside the West Gate of Mordheim


Once the proud civic heart of Mordheim’s western quarter, Welkplatz was where travelers, pilgrims, and tradesmen first set foot inside the city. A ring of guild banners once fluttered above stone archways, and the square bustled with criers, scribes, and vendors offering maps to the cathedrals, bathhouses, and merchant halls. Children played near the fountain of Saint Violeta, while guards in polished helms greeted noble caravans with fanfare.

Now, the fountain is a dry bowl of cracked limestone, its saint toppled and buried in soot. The tiles underfoot are warped by heat and impact, and the surrounding buildings sag inward like broken ribs. On still days, the wind still carries faint echoes — voices that don't belong to anything living.

Welkplatz has become a place of thresholds.
The last moment of clarity before madness.
The point of no return.


Current Use in the Campaign Setting

  • Common Spawn Point for scavenger warbands entering from the west
  • Neutral meeting ground (unofficially) for mercenaries seeking to parley
  • Said to be haunted by the ghost of a city herald who still cries the last edict of Count Steinhardt
