Velmire's Watch

Velmire’s Watch

“Where the lamps never die, and neither do the whispers.”

Lore & Identity:

Once known as Velmire’s Square, this district was originally constructed as a fortified civic terrace built into the rising slope of eastern Mordheim. It was a site of oration, law, and vigil—where city guards held public trials, where noble processions would ascend toward the Temple of Sigmar, and where once each week, the lamplighters of Mordheim would ceremonially light the 99 braziers to honor the dead of the Great War.

When the comet fell, Velmire’s Watch was partially shielded by its thick stone ramparts, leaving the buildings cracked but standing. The temple bells were shattered, but the braziers still burn—some say by human hands, others say… not quite.

Today, the place is haunted more by memory than monsters, though both linger. Most warbands pass through it without knowing its name. But those who listen may hear echoes of sermons, screams, or solemn vows whispered on the wind.

Location in Mordheim:

Looking at your city map, the most fitting placement is:

→ Just south of the Temple of Sigmar, between the City Hall and Poor Quarter.

It would be nestled along the eastern inner ring, bordering the collapsed sectors leading into The Pit. It's a perfect transitional zone: once proud and institutional, now crawling with warbands, desperate pilgrims, cursed knights, and ghostlight.
