Rolanda Niedenthal
Rolanda Niedenthal, the Voice Behind the Veil
Damsel of the Bretonnian Chapel Guard
"The Lady does not scream. She sings, even as the world burns."
To the knights of Bretonnia, the Damsels are distant stars—holy, untouchable, radiant. But Rolanda Niedenthal walks among them like stormlight wrapped in silk. Cloaked in silence yet feared by those who know the weight of her words, she is not merely a priestess or mystic—she is the tether between heaven and ruin.
Raised from infancy in the secluded temples of Quenelles, Rolanda spoke her first words only at age seven—when, during a vigil, she described a vision of Mordheim crumbling beneath waves of weeping stone. She was not punished for this heresy. She was anointed.
Unlike many of her order, Rolanda chose not to remain in the noble courts or crystal sanctuaries. She descended into the Dead City alongside the Chapel Guard, seeking not glory or relics, but voices. She claims the land beneath Mordheim still whispers prayers—twisted, buried, forgotten. And that someone must listen.
Those who fight beside her say they never see her cast. Her miracles bloom like breath in frost: shields of moonlight, wounds undone, fire that dances like lilies. Her eyes shine too brightly at night, and when she chants, the air sometimes weeps wyrdstone tears.
Role in the Order
• Serves as spiritual intercessor, seer, and healer.
• Interprets signs, omens, and relic echoes within the ruins.
• Performs rites to banish corruption and sanctify ground for the Chapel Guard’s advance.
Combat Style
• Rarely fights directly—her presence bends fate, deflects blades, and inspires resilience.
• Channels divine energy through relic-prayers and sacred symbols.
• When forced to strike, she uses a staff carved with Bretonnian prayers and ivy-like flame.
Personality
• Serene, but not soft. Speaks with uncanny clarity that unnerves even hardened knights.
• Holds a quiet conviction that even damnation has a rhythm—and she was born to rewrite it.
• Revered by the Guard not for authority, but for the sense that she already knows.
Appearance Traits
• Wears layered blue and bone-white robes embroidered with constellations of Grail miracles.
• Her hair is always loosely bound, as if wind-blown by forces others can’t feel.
• Her voice is impossibly calm, even while standing in blood.
Rumors & Secrets
• Some whisper she was never born, only found beneath a chapel tree in a pool of moonlight.
• A few believe she walks in dreams of the dead—and that the dead whisper back.
• Her staff is said to contain a shard of a Grail bell once shattered by a wyrdstone comet.
• She once held a knight’s corpse for three days straight, unmoving, until the light returned to his eyes.
Rolanda Niedenthal is not merely a servant of the Lady—she is her echo in the heart of Mordheim, a hymn of mercy ringing out beneath the cries of the damned.
