Black Lothar

Black Lothar

Captain of the Black Guard
The Silent Flame | The Blade of Finality | Warden of the Nameless Dead

Backstory

Before he was Black Lothar, he was simply Sir Lothar von Kartrauch—firstborn of a Reiklander noble house, a knight praised for his valor in the border wars and his unmatched discipline in the saddle. But honor turned to ashes when he returned from a victorious campaign only to find his ancestral keep reduced to rubble, his family crypts violated, and his kin raised as mockeries of life by a roaming necromancer.

Lothar tracked the creature into the woods, where vengeance nearly consumed him. Wounded and delirious, he collapsed before the steps of a ruined shrine—to Morr. There, as fever took him, a vision came: black-armored knights standing vigil in silence, scythes dripping with starlight, and a priest whispering, “Serve not life. Guard the border.”

When he rose, he burned his name, sealed his face behind an iron helm, and took a vow of silence that has not been broken in over a decade. Now known only as Black Lothar, he serves as the commander of the Black Guard beneath High Mourner Eramek Vire. Though not a priest, his very presence is considered a miracle of wrath—for where he walks, undeath ends.
