Vane

Vane

Vane is a Rain Spirit whose presence is as elusive as a passing storm, a being who exists only in the delicate interplay between water and air. As a servant of the Court of Mist and Petrichor, he holds sway over the rain, guiding its patterns and intensity with an unseen hand. Vane’s form is not one that can be easily perceived—he is only visible as an outline, a faint silhouette where the rain refuses to fall. Droplets bounce and slide off the invisible edges of his form, tracing the contours of a tall, slender figure whose shape shimmers in the mist and vanishes when the storm abates. In the midst of rainfall, Vane moves with an ethereal grace, his outline shifting and reforming with every step, as if he were nothing more than a ripple in a puddle.   When the rain ceases, Vane disappears entirely, becoming utterly invisible to mortal and Fey eyes alike. His presence can only be felt in the subtle changes of the air—the coolness before a coming storm, the sudden stillness before a downpour. Without the touch of water to define his form, he exists beyond perception, a ghost in the breeze who watches silently over the Court of Mist and Petrichor. Only those deeply attuned to the essence of water and weather might sense his unseen presence, a faint shift in the humidity or the fleeting impression of something just beyond sight.   Vane’s duties extend beyond merely summoning rain—he is the master of weather within the Court’s domain, ensuring that mist cloaks the land when secrecy is needed, that gentle drizzles nourish the earth, and that tempests guard the Court’s borders when danger approaches. His influence ripples through the air, a silent but powerful force that maintains the Court’s ethereal balance. Vane’s touch can summon the softest mist that kisses the skin or unleash a torrential downpour that cleanses the land, and he moves between these extremes with a fluidity that reflects his ever-shifting nature.   Though Vane rarely speaks, his presence is felt through the language of the rain. His emotions manifest in the weather—a light drizzle may carry the wistfulness of longing, while a sudden downpour might speak of fury barely restrained. The Court of Mist and Petrichor understands these signs, for Vane communicates in ways that words cannot express. His loyalty to the Chancellor Eldrasveil and the Shroud of Unnerving Mist is unwavering, and though he remains unseen in times of calm, he is always watching, always ready to answer the call of the mist and rain. In a realm where nothing is ever quite solid, Vane is a constant presence—a guardian whose essence flows with the rhythms of the storm.
