Session 41: Up on the Rooftop
General Summary
Not-Levi leapt across the street to the roof of a neighboring building and the party quickly began to pursue. In leaping across the street onto the opposite roof, Bolvaic crashed through the ceiling and into the house below. He rushed out to pursue from the ground with Levi, Donk, and Tertius, Not-Levi seemed intent on fleeing and not fighting and he summoned a dire bear on the ground to cause a distraction as it began to attack the people of Eastbridge.
Bolvaic caught the bear’s attention to battle it, though it did fell one of the townsfolk. Donk rushed up and healed the townsperson so that they could flee while Bolvaic took on the bear.
Illevaere summoned two giant spiders to web Not-Levi, who was bound by their webbing and was unable to break free. Meanwhile, Ilbryen fell through a rooftop as well, then rushed outside to help Bolvaic with the dire bear. With Not-Levi restrained on the rooftop, Levi was able to climb and confront him in battle along with Tertius and Tiarjead turned her focus onto the bear and it was ultimately defeated without killing any townsfolk.
Before escaping the webbing, Illevaere cast dispel magic, which ended up being powerful enough to dispel the magics that had transformed Not-Levi and he reverted to the form of a sickly, weak humanoid fey creature–something akin to a creature from the stories of how fey would steal children by replacing them with sickly creations called changelings that would pose as the stolen child.
The captured creature did not resist its apprehension and it claimed that when it was Levi, he thought that he was Levi, but now he recollects the hags that created him, which he refers to as the “mothers”. Among his possessions which were not transformed were a furred cloak–something which Levi did not possess, Levi’s book, and a sealed letter from Duke Greyhall meant for Queen Finnea. It said that the mothers told him in a dream to switch the letters which was there when he woke. He did what the mothers instructed but did not know what was in the letter that was given to the Queen.
The party was at an impasse on what to do with the reverted fey creature. Levi and Bolvaic were both of the mindset that the creature should be slain, while Illevaere thought that since the creature thought it was Levi, that it was not responsible for its actions and should be spared.
