Lath
Lath
Lath, the driftwood treant and protector of the Seafoam Court, is a towering figure of calm authority and ancient strength. Composed entirely of driftwood bleached and smoothed by countless tides, their form is a harmonious blend of natural elegance and quiet power. The pieces of wood that make up their body are weathered and sun-bleached, polished to a soft sheen by the endless caress of the sea. Barnacles and seaweed cling to their limbs, and small pools of seawater occasionally drip from the crevices of their body, filling the air around them with the scent of salt and brine.
Standing tall, Lath's large humanoid form is a patchwork of different types of driftwood, their asymmetry lending them an organic beauty. Their arms are long and sinewy, with gnarled fingers that resemble the roots of a mangrove, strong and flexible. Their "face" is formed from a large, knotty piece of driftwood, with softly glowing blue-green lights where eyes would be, reminiscent of bioluminescence in the deep ocean. When they speak, their voice is low and soothing, like the gentle roll of waves over a rocky shore.
Though Lath serves as Narahm's advisor to war, they are remarkably soft-spoken and amiable, a juxtaposition that surprises those who first meet them. Their demeanor is one of patience and understanding, and they prefer to resolve conflicts through strategy and foresight rather than brute force. They possess a deep wisdom drawn from their centuries of existence, and their knowledge of the tides, currents, and the ebb and flow of battle make them an invaluable asset to the Seafoam Court.
Despite their friendly nature, Lath is a formidable protector. When roused to defend the court, their calm presence gives way to a terrifying display of strength and precision. They wield their driftwood limbs with the force of crashing waves, and their connection to the sea allows them to summon water and manipulate it to devastating effect. Barnacles and jagged edges of coral along their body serve as natural weapons, making them a fearsome opponent in battle.
Lath’s dual nature—a gentle advisor with the heart of a warrior—makes them a symbol of the Seafoam Court’s ethos: the sea may appear serene, but beneath its surface lies a power capable of reshaping the world. Loyal to Narahm and dedicated to the court, Lath embodies the balance of strength and serenity that defines their role as both protector and strategist.
