Flicker-Face
Flicker-Face
Flicker-Face is a haunting reflection of a young girl, no older than eight, whose pale blonde hair and delicate features bear an resemblance to the Fractured Princess herself. But where the Princess’s eyes shimmer with madness and delight, Flicker-Face’s eyes are heavy with unspeakable sorrow—deep pools of sadness that seem to reach beyond the glass, pleading for something lost. Her reflection flickers in and out of view, as if struggling to hold on to the fragile boundary between worlds, her expression a silent cry for help or understanding.
Flicker-Face often tries to communicate, her lips moving in quiet, soundless words that never quite reach beyond the glass. Her eyes, wide and imploring, seem to beg for acknowledgment, but whatever message she carries is lost in the shimmering distortion of the broken mirrors. Her reflection is fleeting, appearing and vanishing like a dying ember, yet each flicker carries the weight of unbearable sorrow.
The Fractured Princess does not welcome Flicker-Face. Her presence unsettles the Princess in ways that nothing else can, and when Flicker-Face appears, the Princess’s delight turns to rage. She often screams in fury, hurling whatever is closest to shatter the offending mirror, as if destroying the reflection will silence whatever truth Flicker-Face is trying to reveal. Whatever connection Flicker-Face has to the Fractured Princess, it is one that the Princess cannot—or refuses to—face, and the appearance of the sorrowful child is met with fear, fury, and destruction.
