Devil

Devils are infernal creatures of pure malice and cunning, bound eternally to the structured and unforgiving realms of the Nine Hells. They are beings of order and cruelty, thriving in the rigid hierarchy of infernal society where power is everything, and every action serves a greater scheme. Devils are master manipulators, weaving webs of deceit and temptation that ensnare mortals through carefully worded contracts and bargains. Though they can appear in many forms—some as horned fiends wreathed in flame, others as elegant figures with an air of sinister charm—their true essence is always one of corruption and control. Mortals who bargain with devils may gain what they desire, but the price is always higher than they can imagine, often costing their souls or binding them to eternal servitude.   The Blood War, an unending conflict between devils and the chaotic hordes of demons from the Abyss, has raged for countless eons, a cosmic struggle that pits law against chaos. Devils, with their rigid hierarchy and strategic brilliance, fight to maintain the order of the Hells, believing that unchecked chaos from the Abyss would consume all existence. The war is relentless and without mercy—armies of devils clash with demonic legions in a ceaseless battle where no side can claim true victory. While the Blood War is waged to protect the cosmos from absolute anarchy, devils are not benevolent protectors—they see this war as a means to assert their dominance over all realms, ensuring that law, even one built upon tyranny, prevails.   Yet, despite their infernal nature, devils harbor a secret and ancient bond with the Fey, one that stretches back to the earliest days of creation when the boundaries between realms were still forming. This connection is shrouded in mystery and whispered about in both infernal and fey circles. Some say that the bond was forged through ancient bargains between ArchFey and archdevils, binding their realms together in ways that even the gods cannot fully unravel. Others claim that certain powerful Fey, both of the Seelie Court and the Unseelie Court, share a common ancestry with devils—both being beings of manipulation, temptation, and subtle power. While fey magic is whimsical and unpredictable, and infernal magic is rigid and binding, they both thrive on bargains, oaths, and the unyielding power of words. It is not uncommon for devils to strike pacts with fey, using their knowledge of mortal desires to weave contracts that blend the allure of fey enchantment with the unbreakable terms of infernal law.   This connection gives devils a unique edge in their dealings with mortals. They understand the intricate rules of fey bargains and mirror them with their own contracts, creating offers that appear tempting but are laden with consequences that only become clear when it is far too late. Some devils even serve as intermediaries between powerful fey and mortal petitioners, offering boons that blur the line between fey charm and infernal damnation. In return, certain archfey—particularly those aligned with shadow and ambition—have been known to offer knowledge or power to the lords of the Hells, further entangling the fates of these two realms.
