Broken King
Broken King (a.k.a. The King with a Broken Crown, The King of Ash and Tears, The Wandering King, The Soot-Covered King)
The Broken King stands on the trod before them. He is tall and slender, but with a once-proud posture whose shoulders now slump with melancholy. His face is covered in ash and soot with tear streaks that run down his cheeks through the soot. He has short, stylish silver-gray hair and wears a tarnishing crown that is broken in half. He wears fine clothing of black and silver, though it is all worn and frayed with age. His shadow, however, reaches toward the sun rather than away.
He is a Courtless ArchFey, his Court forgotten by most, as he now wanders the realms and looks for those to join him in weeping for his crown. He is known by several other names including the King with a Broken Crown, the King of Ash and Tears, The Wandering King, and The Soot-Covered King.
He was met by Illevaere in The Feywild as they passed along a trod. He told them that he knew the challenges that lay ahead of them and offered to aid Illevaere with more time, a second chance, or even the right path to take. In exchange, he asked for either a fragment of their shadow, a path of theirs not taken, or tears for his crown.
Illevaere rejected the offer for help from the Broken King, not liking the idea of getting involved with bargains that they did not know the true consequences of.
