Mongolian Death Worm Attack
General Summary
The hunters get a report of some strange deaths at a local museum. Professor Josh Singer, Dr Jennifer Sofia, and Michelle Fitzsimmons were last seen alive working late unpacking and cleaning up new items for the collection. The next morning they were found “burned and partially dissolved” according to police reports.
----
The group received a page from the Bureau of Paranormal Investigations concerning the deaths at the Cincinnati Natural History Museum at Union Terminal.
They arrive to find the CPD discussing the incident, and cleaning up. The last body is being loaded on to an ambulance and the final initial Coroner's draft is being uploaded by Dr Violet Hart . They talk to the detective in charge, as well as the museum director, neither of whom are particularly willing to let the group investigate.
Darby "Derpy" O'Dowd wanders off by himself to meet Dr Kelly Morrison, who he persuades to show him the murder scene. He is lead to where a new display of Mongolian artifacts are being unpacked in preparation for an upcoming display. While discussing the grisly deaths, two by apparent venom and one by apparent burning, she continuously casts her eyes down and carefully inspects the crates.
Meanwhile outside, the others meet Dr Francis Ferrara who is guilt ridden that she was not present to help the now dead scientists unpack the crates and offers to lead them inside.
While talking to Dr. Morrison, Darby uses his phone to google "Mongolia Electric Poison," (or some such) and comes up with a hypothesis that the culprits could be Mongolian Death Worms, a kind of cryptid. Dr. Morrison snatches his phone out of his hands and leads him on a chase through the museum. Eventually arriving in the Caves. Darby wisely realizes the threat and leaves, to join up with the rest of the gang.
The gang together then goes to the Security Office where a taciturn guard shows them the video footage of the deaths.
Dr. Ferrara runs off to chase down some movement, and is chased by Egon Venkman and Darby, who is bitten by a worm. Egon performs first aid and is pleasantly surprised to see immediate improvement just by washing the wound with water.
Undeterred, Dr. Ferrara runs off to try again, and this time Onyx St Croix is bitten, and transforms into her monstrous self. This refocuses Dr Ferrara.
Onyx goes to get the museum director and discovers Dr. Morrison, who tries to kill her with a fire extinguisher. It is learned that Dr. Morrison is responsible tor smuggling the death worms, but did not intend for the crate to be opened by anyone else.
Meanwhile screams are heard from the Security Office, and the group discovers the guard being eaten by many worms. Darby is about to douse them with a bucket of water, when one falls on Faustus , and he decides instead to douse his friend.
The worms scatter into corners and possibly elsewhere, and Dr Ferrara, now armed with a water spritzer chases some behind a desk, and is shocked by it. Faustus goes to rescue her, but is himself bitten and shocked, and is only able to survive through the force of his machismo.
After dickering with the museum director for a bit about water damage, Darby finally takes matters into his own hands and sets off the sprinkler system, mistakingly in the entire museum rather than in the security office, as he had intended.
The city is saved, the museum is damp, artifacts are presumably ruined.
We end watching Dr Morrison giving Darby his phone back, as water drips into the seams and the LCD panel fritzes
